    cake!

I cannot wait to try this cake out.. if anyone here has please let me know and tell me how it turns out. For the rest of you, here is a really funny recipe that I got from Kit's Kat Nips at www.shagmail.com

--A SPECIAL CAT RECIPE - KITTY LITTER CAKE!
(Created by Mike and Linda Will)

At least once a year I have to share this recipe
with you - just so you won't forget about it and
just in case some of the newer readers haven't
seen this yet. To some of you it will be totally
"gross" but to others it will be a fun thing to
do and a good joke. So, if you've seen this
before and don't approve, that's okay, just pass
it on by and get to the next article. It's all meant
to be in good fun. (No scolding e-mails, please, okay?)

So, if you're ready to bake - show the world what
    a "purr-fect" cook you are.

    --INGREDIENTS:
--1 spice or German chocolate cake mix (include
    ingredients listed in mix)

--1 white cake mix (include ingredients listed in mix.)

    --1 pkg. white sandwich cookies

--1 large pkg. vanilla instant pudding mix (include
    ingredients listed on mix.

    --green food coloring

    --12 small Tootsie Rolls

--1 brand new and clean kitty litter box

--1 brand new and clean kitty litter box liner

--1 brand new and clean kitty litter scoop

    --DIRECTIONS:
--1. Prepare cake mixes according to package directions.
    (Any size cake pans.)

--2. Prepare pudding mix according to package directions
and chill until ready to use. Crumble white sandwich
cookies in small batches in blender. (Scrape often,
they tend to stick.) Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To
this 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops of green
food coloring and mix using a fork or by shaking in
    a jar.

--3. When the cakes are cooled to room temperature,
crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of
the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled
pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding.
Mix it with the cake and feel it; you don't want it
    soggy, just moist. Gently combine.

--4. Line a new, clean kitty litter box. Put mixture
    into litter box.

--5. Put three unwrapped Tootsie Rolls in a microwave
safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape
ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly.
Repeat with 3 more Tootsie Rolls and bury these in
    the mixture.

--6. Sprinkle the other half of the cookie crumbs over
the top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly
over the top. This is supposed to resemble the
    chlorophyll in the litter.

--7. Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, 3 at a time in the
microwave until almost melted. Spread them on top of
the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Or, only
spread 5 of the remaining Tootsie Rolls over the top.
Take one and heat until pliable, and hang it over the
side of the kitty litter box, sprinkling it lightly
    with cookie crumbs.

Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the
cookie crumbs around. Serve with the new scoop. Enjoy!

OK... my dear readers.... Real cat lovers won't get too
    grossed out, right?

This is a real recipe with real food, and is a lot of
fun to make and is delicious to eat! But the real fun
of it all is watching the reactions of other people as
they look at for the first time, and then realize what
it is. Their reactions will range from "How GROSS, I
can't believe you'd make such a thing!" to "Oh, isn't
that CUTE!" Can I have the recipe!

OH, MY, GOSH!!! This is SO FUNNY! I wish I still worked. This would have been perfect to fix and take for snack day at the insurance company I worked for. I was always being picked on about my cats. A little sweet revenge would have been fabulous.

Yup! It was me! I made the cake! lol

It was sooo funny--looked wonderfully gross! I don't have the pictures anymore to share--wish I did!

And if you can get over the grossness, the cake isn't bad at all!

I'm going to have to try this one. Sounds yummy.

My mom has made a similar one called "Dirt Cake." She serves it in a kids beach pail with the little shovel and sticks gummy worms in it. It's fun to see people's reactions, but in reality the cake is absolutely yummy! I think she'll get a real kick out of this one too. Thanks Nomilynn!

Last Halloween, I also made this litter box cake for a party with fellow teachers. Although it got a big response, very few people would eat it! (I wonder why?!) I couldn't let it go to waste so I took it to school the next day and offered it to a 4th grade class (one of my favorites.) The kids hooted and hollered and thought the cake was really gross, but when I asked who wanted some, EVERYONE did! They loved it and wanted me to make another one for their classroom Halloween party the next day - but I thought one litter box cake a year is enough!

By the way, if you make this cake don't forget to place a tootsie or two "dripping" on the edge of the litter box, for the most effective natural look.
