I just don't understand why one poor dog seems to be dealt all the bad cards. Hope now has giardia. So now she feels awful again and all of you know what giardia does. Hopefully the medication will take hold soon. But she is still wagging her tail!!!![]()
Julie,
I know that whatever that girl is enduring right now, it is Heaven to her, compared to her life B.J. (Before Julie). But I am so sorry she has yet another problem. Hope and you, Julie, remain in our prayers.

Ditto, Logan! Poor Hope, why is this all happening to such a sweet girl like her? I hope she feels better soon.
Is Hope taking Metronidazole (Flagyl) for the giardia? Watch her for any liver problems. Since she was so skinny, her liver was probably compromised. Look for orange urine, jaundice, the whites of the eye turning yellow, pale gums, lack of appetite, or lethergy. I found out on the liver disease bb that this drug can cause liver problems, even though most vets are under the impression that this is a safe drug. This is what my Killian crashed on. Just look for those symptoms, please. Hopefully everything will turn out well for you, Hope. We are praying for you!

My Jingles was on metronidazole as well and monitoring is so important. I'm so sorry Hope has yet another health problem to deal with. Lots of prayers for Hope that the medic. and the healing love of Julie will see her through this. I know in Julie, she has the best guardian angel by her side. Keep wagging that tail precious girl![]()

Note: the metronidazole crash came in the second week of being treated with it. It seemed to be helping Killian and then he crashed. Just be aware of this danger.

That poor girl! It just isn't fair. At least she is where she is loved and cared for. Imagine what would have happened if she were still alone in the woods. Julie, you deserve a medal! Hope, you hang in there little girl. We're thinking of you all the time. My 11 are waiting to meet you!

There are so many prayers and love going out to Hope and Julie that it has to have a positive effect on Hope. Julie you are an angel to have so much patience and love to give to this poor little girl. I'm sure the love is returned to you by just looking into Hope's eyes. This dog deserves a better life and I'm sure Julie is doing her best to give it to her. If there is anything that we possibly could do to help please let us know.
In the meantime God be with you both.

Well, I've just read all the postings and saw the picture of Hope das Wunderhund and figure the previous owner(s) were aware of the diabetes and that's why they dumped her. Then, again, she could have been lost as I have seen ads in the paper for dogs that needed medication. Who knows? Still, I'm glad you have had the bigness of heart, DogResQ to take her in and help her out. It can be a tremendous inspiration to be around a dog that by all odds ought not to have survived the starvation, let alone the diabetes, eye problems, cancer and now the giardia. I have to admit, I don't know what that is, but from the description of symptoms for Killian, it sounds AWFUL! Have they done liver function tests on her? I take it that since she is scheduled for the eye surgery later this month that they found no problems with her retinas? What else could happen to this poor dog? Your love for her and her response are beautiful to hear about and I am adding my hopes and prayers that she will enjoy recovery in God's Perfect Plan for her life. He placed her in a home that doesn't look upon "challenged" dogs as a problem to be rid of, but to be dealt with and loved no matter what. I am anxiously awaiting further updates. May the Lord Bless you and keep you -- Both of you (and all the tender souls that have posted to this page).
Sudilar-Hope is on Flagyl. Thank you for the info and warning signs. The vet told me to watch for neurological problems because of her diabetes but not the other warning signs. Of course I watch her like a hawk and ANYTHING unusual and she goes to the vet immediatley!!! So far so good but she has only been on the medication for a few days so I will be especially cautious the second week. I am trying to see this as a "small" bump in the road as we look forward to her eye surgery. THANK YOU all for your words of encourgement and prayers. You don't know how much it helps Hope and I. I haven't met any of you but I consider you all my dear friends!![]()
You know Julie, I felt like I knew you when we hung up the phone when we talked. It's amazing how when animal lovers get together that they immediately bond when something happens to someone's animal. You and Hope deserve all the prayers and good thoughts that have been sent your way. Hope needs someone like you who is like a rock for her to lean on. I'm so happy that there are other people out there like Mike and me who never say they have too many animals! lol I even emailed a woman about a Weim that's in Ohio...I have ALWAYS wanted another Weim and he sounds like he needs help and you all know what a sucker I am for a sad story. I will continue the prayers and good thoughts for you and Hope that the giardia is taken care of soon and that the surgery goes off without a hitch and Hope can see again.
Don't buy while shelter dogs die!!
I'm really sorry for this other obstacle to Hope's recovery. Hope and Julie you are both in my heart and thoughts.
