    Pet Talk Catalympics Have Opened.

    Dateline-Internet, All Across the World.

The Pet Talk Olympics officially opened today with the
Parade of Kittens (Cats). Since the participants have been resting and napping in order to marshall all their strength for the upcoming Games, there wasn't much of a parade. They all sauntered in at their leisure.

Any cat owner will tell you that getting a cat to compete is a major
accomplishment-getting them to march into the stadium, in order, is downright impossible.

Some of the events to be contested for the next two weeks, or however long the participants interest lasts, are new in the world of cat-letics.

The only departure from the Hooman Olympics is that every cat will receive a purrfect 10 score and a gold medal. This eliminates a judging scandal like those pesky skating judges tried to pull off a few years ago in Utah.

I see the Olympic Flame has been lit.......Or is that a laser pointer??

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

So, here we have all the glorious teams that have joined the cat-olympic games in Athens so far:

    I hope I haven't left anyone out...

@csanchezveloso: Which country will Antenita represent? I couldn't tell it from your profile...

...and here are the medals our kitties can get, especially designed for the cat-olympics:

Wonder if anyone has gold already...
I'm pretty sure the stunning American meowing team has got one already! They're looking really impressive!!

I found two events to enter Leroy in... he may be a little young, but he can always be an alternate!!!

Here he is with his sparing partner Frosty practicing his wrestling moves:

And here he is polishing his soccer skills!

All of the photos are so great! I love the team banners, too. Richard, you are too funny for words. Let's see who can chase that laser pointer the fastest.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

    Day One.

All the athletes not all arrived yet.
The Canadians are still waiting for more athletes to show.

The European teams looks strong. Viewing the team photos
you can see the fire in their eyes.

The Brits, Danes and Germans all have representatives ready to take advantage of the fact that they have the home field advantage for the Games.

The American team has a large contingent in attendance, this year playing as a visiting team.

    ----------------------------------------

The medals were unveiled at a special ceremony during the opening ceremonies.

The circular medals were designed with a simplistic and tasteful
rendition of a cat in the "Are YOU talking to ME?" pose.

One athlete was over heard to say, "I am going to treat MY medals like cat toys,
When I get home, I'll leave all my medals all over the floor just to remind my owner who is in charge ...."

    --------------------------------------------

We'll try to stay on top of all the Games and try to bring you
the latest scores. Our reporters will follow the same schedule as the competitors.

"Yawn.......Is it time to wake up and do something?"
The secret of life is nothing at all

Kirsten I love the medals. I hope it doesn't show your bias that I can't see the US team

I think we are strong in wrestling and synchronized. Not so strong in meowing and stuffy wrestling and door balancing

You cannot see the US-team, Barbara? Well, it should show up, I can see it.

Richard, thanks for keeping us updated on the games!

Besides, Lily has decided to also join the balancing contest now:

    Oops!!
Edited because I have checked the US-team's url and there was indeed a typo. No idea why I was able to see the picture first, but when I hit reload, it has disappeared.... Now it should be back.
I do apologize for this!! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Barbara!

Richard, this doesn't happen to be Lily? Kind of sounds like her...
