they say it's christmas all i
    see is exhaustion

    gifts cards and contracts
due for this year -and no time
    for cuddling with me

    i curl up in front
of the couch, basking in the
    warmth of the fire
    ---------
    the fire does not scare
    me, the orange monster spits,
    coughs, hisses at me
    -------
    i have made my peace
    with the orange monster that
    lives in the wall box
    -------
    i am brave enough
to sleep next to the monster,
    my dad keeps me safe!

    CAT-ch me if you can

    i race thru the house
    faster than any old cat
    on television
    -------
    cheetahs, lions are
no match for my speed thru the
    rooms in my dad's house
    -------
    television cat
    watch me dodge the furniture-
    see my flying feet?
    -------
    i am faster than
    a football back- more agile
    than a young dancer
    -------
    faster than the speed
    of light..........o.k...who put that
    glass of soda there?

    Scratches at the elbow

    filou the falcon
sits on my shoulder, his claws
    dug round my elbow

    raise high your elbow
i need a bastion to look
    upon the desert

    small game on the ground
    falcon filou is too proud
    to chase you down there

    from your shoulder i
roll down into your arms you
    may touch my tummy

    eddies lament

    filou, i envy
    you being a falcon, i
    am just a vulture
    -------
    aerodynamic
grace, a will to hunt, sharp claws,
    beak, two strong, clear eyes
    -------
    you perch on your mom's
shoulder, i sit on the shelf
    dropping books on dad.
    -------
    to be able to
fly! climb, dive, soar, what would the
    house look like after?

    dropping a picture

    she would not stand up

    from the cat tree to
    the bookshelf do you really
    believe I need wings?

    wings II

    tasmania has
their own devil, my dad has
    his own version-me!
    -------
    no horns on my head
cloven hoofs or a forked tail
    but look in my eyes
    -------
    my pupils grow large
and my dad knows it's time to
    run, hide-leave the room!
    -------
    a small pair of wings
won't fix the things i break but
    no one is 'purrfect'
