    Richard, happy new year!

If it's 10.30pm there, and it's 5.30pm the next day here, you're about 19 hours behind us. I didn't think the time zone was so big But fret not, you'll wake up to a sunny, clear day (damn shame I can't pick those lotto numbers a day ahead ... )

If your stocktake shows a few missing bottles of champagne, put them on my tab

    Thanks,

No lotto numbers --but how's about that American football?

Go ahead. Don't worry about the tab.......Because you are the first patron at Thursday's, you have Carte Blanche.

Since you might catch the Rose Parade at some ungodly hour
(damn American's.......they do march to a different drummer...)
Don't think that the weather is always perfect.

You'd have to find out for yourself.

    Well, I did it again......

    I slept through it all.......

I started to watch the celebrations at 11pm and here I am waking up at 1:45 on the couch. I see Richard's been in and gone. Oh well, I'll just turn off all the lights and lock up for the night. Gee I didn't even get a NYE kiss......

    Should old acquaintance be forgot.....
La la la la la la la

Sleep tight everyone. May 2004 bless you with good health and happiness.

Hey I just thought of something.....if Richard's last name is Mena, does that make Eddie Mr. Mena Paws?????

    I kill me......no really......

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

WELL DANG! How could I have missed the whole party?? Maybe after reading Richards "out with the old" I thought I was barred ("barred" get it? hahahaha) Got off work early and couldn't get back on the 'puter until this a.m. Had/have fire going since last night and when alarm went off at 5 (alarm meaning the dogs) I went into the living room thinking I had to go to work and there sat my son & his best friend Craig still playing cards (since last night ) and Ken (son) said "MOM, you don't have to go to work today.. come sit by the fire" I did. ahhhhh. I like babies bottoms almost as much as puppy bellies. I'll have one of each, or two. Hair of the dog anyone? I'll pour. Gini, where is that recipe of Pam's for those cookies? Wonderful, gentle wishes to everyone for this next year.

Sure, Amoore (a poet and don't know it *eww groan again*) I have fresh ground beans and will put a bottle of Kahlua on the bar for anyone that wants a splash. I also have fresh farm heavy cream from a cow I happen to know. And SHE'S NOT MAD. A little angry maybe, my hands were cold. By the way, it's Lbaker.. it just looks funny when i type in lower case.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
I can't believe our weather. Yesterday it was dark and snowing all day long and this morning the beautiful blue sky is only showing a few fluffy white clouds with a reddish glow. Well, that's the west coast for you.

Did everyone have a good time last night??? You all need to check in and report. Where's Gini??? I know she went out last night....but did she return???????

Thanks for putting on the coffee amoore. I guess it's officially Thursday so the REAL party can get started. I'll just tidy up a bit around here and be right back.

I forgot to mention what I'm cooking back here in the kitchen today! OK, maybe it's a "Southern Thang" but we must have blackeyed peas for good luck. Always on New Years day. So I'm fixing up a large pork roast (with saurkraut for Jenny & I) and a pot of buttery, garlicky blackeyed peas and corn bread. I'll fix up some other greens for those that need it but we must eat at least ONE blackeyed pea for good luck. Ain't nothin' but a thing.. By the way Richard, that DOTD was verrry yummy!

Well, I did it again this year. Slept through the new year celebration. I guess I've hit an age where it isn't that big of a deal. I was up at around 12:30 when the Molly o'clock went off. She had to potty, so everyone went out in shifts. You know three out, one in, two out, one in, one out - gets really crazy. I have to count to make sure I have them all in before I go back to bed.

But the interesting thing. One of our neighbors was shooting off a rifle/shotgun at 12:30 a.m. First I heard the howl of a coyote, then the shot, then the squawking of the canadian geese on the pond down the road. Definitely different than fireworks - weirder too. Must be them country folks celebrating.

    Christmas Cookie Ingredients:

    1 cup of water
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 cup of sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup of brown sugar
    lemon juice
    4 large eggs
    1 cup nuts
    2 cups of dried fruit
    1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo
again, to be sure it is of the highest
quality, pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one
cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again.
At this point it's best to make sure the
Cuervo is still OK, try another cup ...
    just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2
leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in
the cup of dried fruit, Pick the
frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the
turner. If the fried druit gets stuck
in the beaterers just pry it loose with
a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to
    check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.
Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon
juice and strain your nuts. Add one
table. Add a spoon of sugar, or
somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash
    the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees
and try not to fall over. Don't forget
to beat off the turner. Finally, throw
the bowl through the window, finish the
Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the
    dishwasher.

    CHERRY MISTMAS
