Setback. Spent five hours at the emergency room last night due to Coop's pain. They examined him, consulted his surgeon, pumped him full of dilaudid (sp?), gave him a prescription to fill for that medicine (within the next four hours at 2am), as the double dosed Oxycodone was no longer effective, and set him loose. We found a 24 hour pharmacy after several calls, got the medicine and got home at 3am.
Just venting a little: we were there because his pain could no longer be managed at home. His surgery is Thursday morning at 8am; we drove specifically to that hospital ER (not exactly next door) because that's where the surgery is to be performed. They released him at 2am WEDNESDAY - do you think they could have admitted him until 8am THURSDAY?? That answer would be no. Believe me, we tried, the techs tried, they would not admit him.![]()
I hope this all works out for the best.
GO RAVENS!!
It will work out for the best. Hold that thought. Coop's got PT prayers on his side and we've all seen their miraculous powers! This will all be behind you both soon and Coop can get on w/his life w/o pain. It's just too bad that it's been such a painful road getting there. Keep the faythe, my friends.![]()

Who is they? The surgeon? In most case, if the doctor won't admit him, the hospital can do nothing - unless you find another doctor to take over. When I broke my ankle, the Ortho Resident wanted me to have surgery that day. The Attending Surgeon couldn't be bothered to come out on a Sunday, so home I went until Tuesday.
I'm sorry you both have had to go through all this. Prayers continuing for both of you.
Prays coming for you and your husband. I will be thinking of you both tomorrow.
I can't image going through all this back pain, I've stated before the problems I have but I'm just glad surgery is not needed at this point. This morning though I was remembering what pain the back feels like and it just throws everything off. I will say a huge special pray for you and him tonight.
If you need anything, anything at all just let me know.
Melissa
Good Thoughts & Prayers sent Coop's way. Praying the strong pain medicine will work for him till his surgery.
But I wouldn't want Coop getting an infection (upper respiratory, UTI, etc) between 2 AM Wednesday and 8 AM Thursday. Many many patients hospitalized because of infections of various sorts this time of year. Funny that they couldn't move him to the surgical schedule for Wednesday though.![]()

"They" is the attending and Coop's surgeon (via phone). We had the nurses and techs on the side of admitting, especially since Coop almost passed out twice with his pressure dropping dangerously low, but no go. There is also a problem with his white cell count indicating an infection somewhere that was mentioned a couple of times. I just pray it all goes well, as I know you all do too, and I greatly appreciate it.
GO RAVENS!!
My best wishes to you and your hubby for tomorrow's procedure. I am sorry to hear you and he have had to go through such an ordealAlthough I'm sure you're both exhausted please try to stay positive - it just has to get better!
And please give give Miss Pinot a big hug for me![]()
