Ty loved both! He absolutely loved his swing, he would nap in it and just swing in it for long periods of time. It was so wonderful and I think I cried when he outgrew it

The bouncer was also nice though, and it's more portable. It's not easy to take the swing from one room to another, so you might want both. If you get a bouncer make sure to ask for one that vibrates and plays music!

Katherine loved her bouncer and her swing. I agree with pretty much everything JenBKR just said. Our swing was theoretically the portable kind, but I wouldn't advise getting that kind. It just didn't hold up. We're going with the full-sized kind this time around. The bouncer was a lot more portable. She napped in both quite often.

Are swings for newborns or more for the older baby? I know I plan to have one, just not sure if I need to get one right away. And a bouncer will definitely be on our list. Just trying to find one that we like, and that's preferably Made in the USA.

We did put Ty in his swing when he was only a couple of weeks old and propped him up with blankets on either side of him. He loved it (and so did I!)

I didn't check the links, so, maybe someone posted this already.

I had the big swing thing, sturdy, not the type you move from room to room, and J like that. THEN, I had a portable table top one, I think it was called an Aquarium Swing, and it rocked! Very easy to move room to room, VERY sturdy, and it could safely be put on top of a table...which was super nice.

    Made in the USA

Can y'all do me a favor? No big deal, but, if you can easily check, please let me know if any of your large baby products are Made in the USA. Things like car seats, swings, cribs, etc...

I will ultimately choose whichever is safest and most appropriate for our home and lifestyle, but if I have a choice in the matter, I will try to get Made in the USA.

We put Katherine in her swing fairly early on. We actually ended up getting an extra one of those head support things like you use in a car seat for use in the swing. It worked great for keeping her supported.

It sounds like Cataholic had a different portable swing than we did. I wish I had found one that worked better because the size was very convenient. The one we have is no longer being manufactured, anyway. They update the models pretty frequently.

I'll have to do some checking on the "Made in the USA" thing. I'm honestly not sure.

All-American Baby http://www.all-americanbaby.net/ is all american made. I don't know a whole lot about them, and I don't have anything from them, so I can't personally vouch for them. It's pretty expensive though.

I was thinking about getting Chicco brand products (#1 italian brand) but they are a bit pricey... but not 900 dollars!

For $900 it better put the baby in the stroller, rock him to sleep, and walk itself

I checked out the website - you know it's expensive when they don't even list prices
