Hi y'all! Sorry I am late. I went to a funeral this morning. But as I drove home, I wasn't sad. I felt as though I had missed out on meeting a wonderful man.

He was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. I had never met him. He is the father of a co-worker.

The service was such a warm tribute to him and told all about who he was and what he cared about, you walked away liking him a lot.

He had a belief.............as funny as this may seem.........that if you spit in a dog's mouth - then that dog belonged to you. My friend had a dog.......and her Dad wanted that dog a whole bunch........so he spit in his mouth - and said, NOW HE IS MINE! That dog was devoted to her father.

Bailey's and crab cakes - and a fire in the fireplace? Sounds just perfect - because it is raining like crazy here again in SUNNY
    California.

Slushies all around. Slick, here's your pitcher, I'll take this one for myself. Only 10 more minutes to go! Boss has been gone all afternoon and boy have I been productive! The only thing I didn't get done that I wanted to was school work, but I guess I can't do it all....

Mmmmm....red slushies. Guess I better put some more ice in the blender right away.....

You got that right Laurie. Come on, sit down. I'm going to make a fresh pitcher of slushies to start off the weekend with.

Isn't whiskey suppose to make your cough go away? I've never had whiskey but if it works, I'll take it!

Yes. About 11 years ago now my mother had _____bypass surgery (whatever the word is for 5 goes in the ___ ). Afterwards she got a bad cough - not a cold just a cough - which was hell on her because she was still healing from the surgery (not really sure, but I believe they have to cut through the bone, otherwise how do they get to the heart?) Anyway, she tried everything to stop the cough and the only thing that worked was whiskey. Just a shot once or twice a day was enough she said.

And it must be noted that my mother is not a drinker. When she comes down to visit me, she might have a beer or a glass of wine or maybe one of those old fashioneds we had here a few weeks ago, but that's it. So I was quite surprised when I went to visit and saw the ol' whiskey bottle on the counter!

Shot of whiskey with a chaser of warm honey and you'll be all set.

Now....about those slushies...no road salt in mine please.
