Jess, I am so sorry that you have to go through this nightmare. There aren't words to adequately express how very sorry I am that this happened. I know you feel terribly cheated. Please accept my (((HUGS))) and try to find some peace in all this.
The following poem helped me cope when I lost my dog so suddenly and at the hands of another. I hope it brings you some peace also.
MEMORIES
by Jennifer Graham
THEY SAY MEMORIES ARE GOLDEN,
WELL MAYBE THAT IS TRUE;
BUT I NEVER WANTED MEMORIES,
I ONLY WANTED YOU.
A MILLION TIMES I'LL NEED YOU
A MILLION TIMES I'LL CRY.
IF LOVE ALONE COULD HAVE SAVED YOU,
YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED.
IN LIFE I LOVED YOU DEARLY;
IN DEATH I LOVE YOU STILL.
IN MY HEART YOU HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE
NO ONE ELSE CAN EVER FILL.
IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRCASE,
AND HEARTACHE BUILD A LANE,
I'D WALK THE PATH TO HEAVEN
AND BRING YOU BACK AGAIN.
OUR FAMILY CHAIN IS BROKEN
AND NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME,
BUT AS GOD CALLS US BACK ONE BY ONE,
THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN.
