I just love toasted pumpernickle, especially the real chewy, homemade style! yum. Look at all this candle wax on the window sill Oh well, the candles seemed to help us all over a rough week so who's complaining.. not I. Especially since I just found some leftover Baileys * hehehe * See, sometimes being the early bird does have it's benefits
I've done wheelies in a cart before, does that count?

    Cool! Sounds like fun!

I once had a boyfriend that did an unexpected wheelie on his motorcycle....with me on the back! That could have almost counted since I almost had to be carted off in an ambulance!

why the heck not! Its been a stressful week. My company is beginning its first ever "downsizing" mode. So far I'm not on the chopping block but I know that the morale around here is going to get ugly in the next couple of weeks.

I suppose I shouldn't be drinking on the job but hey, it's Friday, and you can never smell a cyber drink on ones breath.

Don't you love the wordage, downsizing???

    We use "reduction in force"?

I guess being 'smaller' is better that being fired.

It's a lovely fall day here. Can I have an apple cider with a cinnamon stick? Richard, did you see where I posted how many Thursdays until July for you? Now that you know, does it really matter?

Hey you guys...I just finished cleaning up all the peanut shells and wiping down the bar. Try to keep it clean please???

And yes, I'll join you......if you can't beat 'em, join 'em

Catland: we call it "restructuring". Why can't they just come out and say "you're fired".

Call a spade a spade, why don't you.

the only good news is that we're a smaller company and the owner thinks I'm just wonderful.

I know our business has dropped off. When he told me that I might have to take on some additional responsiblities I gave that good old "team-player" response of "ok-what ever it takes, I'm there for you". (Besides, the dirty little secret is that I was able to automate a lot of my job from the person who had it before so I do have time available)

Yesterday someone didn't have that team player mentality when she was told that she was going to have to spend some of her time in another department. Guess which one of us is still here.

When I was a consultant for the feds I got "riffed" more ways than one [R reduction I in F orce] But I felt I was getting riffed every day I went to work. Now I'm at a non-profit Association and although the money part ain't so great at least I don't feel like a .. er, um lets just say person that gets riffed for money. ahem That being said, the bosses aren't here today so set 'em up and let's belly up to the bar
True story, when my m-in-law first met her husband she was with another guy that was just a buddy. She took one look at Ellis and did a cartwheel across the room. I guess she wanted him to notice her or something. Well he did. They were married for over 50 years before he - then she - passed away.

Last March my good friend and co-worker got the pink slip. It wasn't a case of downsizing but they told her "we don't see a future for you here". All because the boss didn't like her. Jerk!!

Laurie: I work for non-profit as well and I know what you mean about the money.

Ok, here we go with my cartwheel.....

OUCH, where'd that barstool come from??

I was downsized from my job at the insurance company after 20 years. Turned out to be one of the happiest days of my life.

Kids, don't try this at home unless you have adult SuPeRvIsIoN...

I always knew I was 51 going on 35 but 51 going on 10??? I think not. Won't try that again. Got a big welt on my head....

Any chance of getting some pain relief over here in the form of a beverage??

I've never been riffed, but I've been called riff-raff

I haven't heard RIF before. My prior employer used to say 'we're going great, you'll get your bonuses this month' then on the Monday would have the 'outplacement (what a nice word) consultant' waiting in the office to start the chopping

I also like 're-aligning our values', 'making ourselves more competitive' oh, there are so many!

It's Saturday morning Richard, may I have a Red Bull and vodka to start the day? Tomato juice is too much for me!

    MM,

When you suspect that the outplacement clerk shows up, bring your own axe and challenge their authority.....

The thing I hate is our companies 'mission statement', I'm on a mission???????

    RB and Vodka????

Oh just what we need, wired and tipsy

    Promise me this, no cartwheels.

    Done!
