Reggie, look, no one likes being mean. We are not being mean to you for our own enjoyment. Most of us have busy lives and don't have time to deal with being mean on purpose. That is just a complete waste of time. You have to understand were we are coming from, as pet lovers. AFTER ALL this IS PETTALK. We care about the welfare and care of Reggie, is all. We want to get it through to you that although she isn't peeing blood anymore, SHE STILL might have something wrong with her and although you may not think so you will never know unless the proper tests are done. The excuses are getting rather old. There is always something to do, no matter where you live. There has to be a job somewhere near you that you could do. Walk dogs for neighbors, do a paper route, clean windows, clean houses, wash cars, anything. Save up some money. DO something and don't sit around saying you will consider it. You are still getting a computer? I think you can afford one check-up. I agree with Holly 150% and I am tired of seeing these threads.

Colin why dont you try working for your vet and pay it off that way? You seem to have tons of time with all the time you spend on PT and playing video games surley you could get off your butt and do something.

Is there something that you could do after school somewhere that you wouldn't have to wait for dad to come home and pick you up and drive you to? This way he could pick you up on his way home?

I grew up on a 100 acre farm. I did find places to work when I was a teen. I walked to a restaurant I waitressed at. It's good exercise and made me appreciate driving when I had that opportunity when I was older.

What do other kids do that live in your area and are in your situation? I'm sure you're not the only one in this situation where you live (or close to where you live).

Also, if mom doesn't work, does she get disability? She should get disability benefits or be on medicaid if she's can't work at all because of health issues. There should be some other income coming in besides dad's paycheck. If she doesn't get any benefits yet, she should apply to see what your family would be able to collect. I know some families don't like to get federal funds because of pride or whatever, but if dad only earns $10.00/hr, and he's working 40hrs a week, he's making under $19,200.00 a year before taxes. Federal poverty line is about the same, and normally they allow adults to earn a certain percentage above the poverty line and can still qualify for assistance.

Oh Buggered Waffles. I haven't posted in a while, but after reading this I just had to respond.

Collin, you make it seem like you live in the 30's or something. Nobody is rich enough to give you money to mow a lawn, or wash their care or walk their dogs. I mean...they have to have 3 dollars lying around, at least. That's all you could charge. "The town is 3 miles away" Hello, WALK THERE. 3 miles isn't that much. If I had to walk 3 miles to get some sort of money, to take my possibly deteriorating dog to the vet, well I would do it in a heartbeat.

As mentioned before, if your mom has seizures like that, she should be getting some sort of welfare. Take her to the doctor (after 6:30 of course, since your dad has the car) and tell them your situation, and the problems your mom has. I don't know much about the medical aid business, but I'm sure they'll send you a bit of money each month to take care of your mom.

Here's another thought. You posted pictures of YOUR desk before, which had like 3 computers on it. Why not sell one of those? Ebay..hellooo? You were going to buy one off of ebay, so don't say you don't have an account.

I'm just so tired of these excuses. And no, I'm not bashing you or flaming or any thing else. This is the truth, well what I've gathered actually, but I believe most other PTers think the same.

Another thing before I start getting ready for school, if you dad only makes 10 dollars an hour (which here is only about 4 dollars above minimum wage) How in the world does he support a family along with internet? I would think internet and video games would be a God-send luxury with him making that little. He could also save a little bit of money each month. My brother, for example, works at Jack in the Box and pays for his own college, but he has saved enough and has over $1,000 in the bank. Maybe your dad could set aside two or three dollars per paycheck and you could save some money over time. Just a thought.

That was a lot longer that I hoped...and no doubt I'll reply again. This is just so frustrating to me >_<

Has anyone come to the conclusion that this whole "Reggie is sick"
thread was a hoax that got out of hand? " Reggie is peeing blood" didn't
happen? it's hard to believe that someone who joins a pet board would
be so uncaring about a real live dog living in your home, even if she does
belong to his parents. I'm done here.

Yes, I hear you on that. It would explain the lack of action to do anything, and the many tall tales to cover up previous ones. Any pet-loving kid I know would probably be willing to do more, perhaps, than an adult for their dog (I say that meaning as an adult has a more experienced view on how the world works, and wouldn't take as many chances as a kid would). As I said before, I don't get it.

I seriously doubt anything's ever going to be done about it if the situation is real. I can't trust his judgement, as he's already proved; he's quitting PT forever and then is back within the hour. As others have not seen, he is prepared to call people including myself a loser and threaten to set his wrestler friends our way, then have a change of heart and apologise, asking for his actions to be excused because he's suffering with a cold.

I hold out hope for this kid, but I know I won't be impressed.

Oh, and I agree with Monica 100%.

You know, that makes sense. I was thinking about it yesterday but I didn't actually think anything of it..because that's a horrible thing to do..

    2. We live in an very rual area with poor people
    3. I try to keep cool when everyone else around me gets mad, have heard that getting mad is not good for your heart
    4. Our car is only available after 6:30 PM because my dad drives it to work and back
    5. My dad only gets paid $10 an hour. He has to pay all of our bills and rent with that
    6. I love reggie to death and i always want the best for her
Now i know that everyone here on Pet Talk are the nicest people i have ever met but please try to keep those above listed things in mind when coming to your conclusions.
Let's add just a few other things to keep in mind when coming to conclusions...

A 13 yr old who understands the concept of device drivers on a computer- very few adults do. At least he knows how to fix computers better than his teachers.

A 13 yr old who has run Linux as the OS prior to getting XP. For those who have never installed Linux from scratch it's not as simple as sticking a CD into a drive. Neither is maintaining Linux a joy. Quite a feat for a 13 yr old. Or was it a dual boot system? Figuring out where to put the boot block for each OS can be a lot of fun.

A 13 yr old living in a rural area in an apartment. I have visions of a multi-family farm house which seems strange. None the less said 13 yr old posts at all hours day and night, but still has time to worry about what is going on in Myanmar. Did I really worry or have political concerns about the build up in Vietnam when I was 13? Ok raise your paws - did anyone when they were 13 care about social/political events in a foreign country?

A 13 yr old whose father makes $400+ per week, at a rate of $10/hr. Assuming a 40 hr work week: $10/hr * 40 = $400. Now what ever happened to the 15% Fed tax? Guess the poor guy could be working 50 hrs a week.

The net result is a 13 yr old that claims to come from a very poor family. That family includes a mother with epilepsy. This implies Medicare, drug company programs for the poor to provide the required medication. All based on financial need. Yet the same family can toss a 13 yr old $400 (a week's pay) for a computer, and other trinkets to attach.

Computers as a hobby is an expensive one, even for a middle class family. Let's not forget the slow dial up ISP charges per month- probably $10. Must be a bear to upload and download all of the images mentioned in various postings! Ok that time again: For those of us who came from a low middle income or low income background - can you remember a time when you were in your early teens and received an item for your hobby that constituted 1 week's of family income? Yeah I know, remembering back that far might be a test for one's memory, as it is for me. But I do not recall such an occurance.

While trying to spark long dead memory cells: Can you remember the first time you encountered a computer? How many years did it take for you to feel confident that one could add or replace memory modules, or replace an old phone modem (dial up) - drivers again. How many years did it take until you felt confident enough to trouble shoot or give advise to others on computer hardware issues? Now subtract that number of years from the number "13". Plug in being a teen confident enough to advise adults.

The conclusion I come to Collins is that you are either a precoious 13 yr old, or a precoious troll. If the former then congradulations you will not be poor all your life. If the later- you need to make sure all posts are more consistent with each other.

Wrestler friends??? LOL!! I'm sorry, but I about peed my pants there. Because they're probably WWE or other Pro Wrestler types, right?! Cause we all know that they're real and everything that happens on those shows is real too, right?!

Next we'll get the excuses about how he can't exert himself because of his asthma and whatever else is wrong. Heaven forbid he walk his butt somewhere to do something. If he's so good with computers, maybe he can invent some robotic device to carry him from place to place! Surely that program would be simple for him to do!

Ok... gonna stop laughing now and get back to work. That was a good break for today!

It's clear this child has some growing up to do, nevermind the parents.

When he is older, he will look back and wish he had done the right thing for Reggie: rehome her.

Ok, before i was 10 my parents won 10,000 dollers. Thats where the Nintendo 64 and computer came from. Thats also where Reggie came from. Then my parents blew the rest on vacations to Myrtle Beach. They took that money for granted and see where i am? Now they are no where near as stupid as they were then. My Desktop busted just an few weeks ago and i gave that other older desktop to my dad. Now i only have my laptop. Yes i had my desktop set up for dual boot for Windows 98 and Linux (i didnt really care for the desktop in the first place, thats where the linux part came from. Linux was no joy to install or run). Yes i have helped fix my teachers computers in class. Now me and Catty1 are trying to fix this situation via pm's.

Oh why don't you stop criticizing me? I'm not lying. I have never wanted to or liked lying. And in my last post i wasn't lying. Do you like criticizing or making people mad? CONSTRUCTIVE criticism please!
