I can see the red pit bull being mixedup with a weim because they were probably thinking of a viszla which I think of as a very similar breed to the weimeraner. He probably saw the red and had only ever seen it on a viszla before

sorry if I spelled any breeds wrong, I'm too lazt to check.

When Baby (great dane) was younger people always asked if she was a weimaraner. SOOOOOO many people thought she was... but no, she is a BLue Great Dane lol. different head shape, size, and leg structure ..

People always Ask if Tikeya is a Wolf or a Malamute... ok she doesnt even look like a Mal, considering Mals dont have Blue eyes and she is Tiny.
And when people ask if she is a wolf, I laugh. A wolf?? omg If I have yet to see a wolf look like a siberian husky.. they look more like GSD's...

To get your pic to show up on a post, right click the picture to get properties and copy and paste the properties onto the post. Then make and image link thepictureproperties. Don't put spaces in the img boxes, I just did that so they would show up. The pictures need to be online already, not just on your computer, though I guess some computers will do this. To get free picture hosting online use sites like imagestation.com or tinypic.com and they will give you a link to the picture and also the properties and image link. You can put several pictures on one post this way, also.
Example: heres my siggie with a space in the first box so it shows up how it would look in the post

I've always thought the breed that looks most like a wolf is the Alaskan malamute.

Well i will get people guessing Ritas breed all the time wrong, but they are just asking really, but one time i actually had some girl, i was in the drive thru and she saw Rita in the back seat and goes "oh its a Pittbull, cool , i have two of them," and i told her no she is not a Pittbull she is a Presa Canario a spanish breed very rare, & she actually goes, "are you sure??" LOL
Im like arent you supposed to own two Pittbulls? how can u not know she isnt one, besides she is twice the size of what a normal Pitt should be, but she thought i was confused and didnt know my dogs breed,. haha

To Be honest, not to comment unwelcomed,I know this post is old, but I couldn't resist. I owned wolf hybrids, and to be honest, I haven't found a common dog breed that looks like a wolf, coloring is all off on all the huskies and mals.....GSD's are commonly bred to make hybrids, but unfortunately, with them you get the pitched "roman" nose and the "hip dysplasia" problems and then the stance that generally comes with a good bloodline GSD. The closest looking dogs I have seen are dogs that are not so common.
this is the only dog I think looks closest....

(Saarloos Wolf Dog)

Also, with lilly, I get soooo MAD, when people say she looks like a rott......if you lookat her in person, her color is tooo TAN, not at all chocolate rich dark brown like in rotts. PLUS SHE HAS A WHITE MARKING ON HER CHEST!! So if anything, there's NO WAY I could ever think someone could call her a pure rott, but they do. Also, Her tail is long with a bit of a bushy look, Her head is completely shaped wrong, AND her ears are tooo long....it drives me crazy to see the anoying looks and comments she gets, people actually grab their children and pull them back when we walk her.....boy that really urks my nerves.
When we had our wolf hybrids people would ask if they were huskies, not honestly, I will post pics of them, NONE look like huskies, lol..... It would make me laugh sooo hard! And I was sooo impressed at the ignorance some people showed with their dog breeds. Now ignorance isn't necessarily a bad thing, because ignorance is the absence of knowing better, unlike stupidity, which is the act of knowing better and doing something anyway, lol. ANyway, i just wanted to comment, because I think it is funny how stubbern people can be.

well, just wanted to share, lol......I loved my babies... they acted just like dogs, and little lilly had preferrence over all of them, only because she slept in the house, and they didn't, so even though she came in after all of them, she was Omega Female, lol.....anyway.....thanks! Just wanted to comment

OK, Bear, (Wolf/Coyote, yup no dog!! aint he gorgeous???)

ok, Apatche, (70% wolf/GSD mix, see the "roman" nose and hip curves?)

Dingo (80% wolf/GSD mix)

Shawnee (92% Wolf/GSD mix, she looks the most like a wolf.)

three of them together!

Shilloh (97% wolf/GSD, highest legal percentage of wolf in VA, many think its 99, but it aint, its 97%)

Ok, thanks, and just wanted to share!!!

Cassie, in the last pic of all three, what order are they in? I was wondering who the last one is in particular....
Shawnee does have a face that looks very much like a wolf, the eyes are close together and the snout is thin and pointed with sharp lines....

The furthest to your right, facing away from you is Shawnee, the middle is Apatche and the last, furthest to your left, is Dingo. Now for a little background history... (don't shun me, please, I didn't originally breed these guys, only fell in love and adopted them after their owner died) OK, Apatche is the oldest, who was bred with Shawnee, to create several litters, including the one where dingo is from. But without knowing it, shawnee and Dingo got together while apatche was being boarded for some vet work. So the two created a litter at which Shilloh came from. Also, with bear, he is a rescue case, out of somewhere like wash. Oregon area, who was a pup and a man that had a small exotic zoo, had let the animals all breed and interbreed and have problems, and then they began to starve so they began eating each other, SPCA and wild rescue came in to save them, had to euthanise many, but the two remaining pups, bear and his sis. Bear was driven down (after a court ruling saying Greg(my mom's ex-fiance) could take him under condition he was neutered) and thn brought back. He never quite fit in. He was beat up bad one winter, SO bad he had to be taken to the vet, hen cut and removed most of his back half, and it took over a year to heal. He was then placed ina lower enclosure, and the two were cut off by a fence. That is when i rescued my pup Chance, you've all heard about, and he and bear became close buddies. Bear, when going in for a follow up check, was placed on a scale, scared I might add, had a termometer shoved up his but, had 12 vet techs standing around him and they were shoving a muzzle on him, so he got scared and bit someone. They tried to put him down, but we fought them really hard, we loved out bear boy, and we knew he was just scared. Finally they quaranteed him for 14 days, (it was agony waiting) and we finally got him back, he spent 2 months inside the house tied to the table(he tried to kill our cat) and my mom spent nights nursing him and sleeping with him so he would whine as much. He never held it against the pack for attacking him, and still enjoyed his daily, supervised romp sessions with the others of the pack. Well, wow, I could tell stories for hours. But I would never recommend anyone to have wolf hybrids as pets, they need more than a normal dog, and they have many medical problems. If kept in an apartment, their hair will generally, for some reason, end up coming out. I loved my guys, but do not recommend others to buy hybrid pups. Adoption yes, but I don't recommend the promotion of this breeding, its dangerous and unfair to the pets...anyway, just commenting, I really did love my guys....
Thanks again'

Awww, I am sure she does, I just dont promote the breeding and purchase of these wonderful, exotic, but still very Wild. They have many inhibitions, and generally don't do well with strangers and noisy situations. Ours were socialized well aand we had very few problems. LOL, whats funny is the one who barked the most were our dogs, lol. The only one we had howl was bear, the others only bellowed when the neighbor ran his dog up and down the street, literally( this lazy man sat and drove his truck while his poor dog, that had knee prob. etc. a lab, a fat one,, ran beside him.) anyway, we loved our guys, I just don't think people should breed them, as uneducated people get them as novelty pets, kinda like cocka-poos and those other breeds people buy as a new fashion mix....anyway..thnks! and I am sure she loves her pup!!

Not to randomly bump up an old thread, buuut..

I have only had two people correctly identify Visa as a Belgian. One because his sister had one, the other because she used to have one. Everyone else automatically thinks me dog is something else. So far I've had "black German shepherd," "German shepherd/collie mix," "black collie," "German shepherd/wolf mix," and "wolfdog." When it was my first day doing work experience at the shop I work at, I came in, saw Visa, and told her breeder "Nice groenendael." It was those simple words that made her beg my boss to hire me -- because I knew what a groenendael was.
I've been BOO'd!

~Yes~

Yes. Since Eli is so slim and small for a Labrador, they think she's some kind of Greyhound mix. And they think Baybe is a purebred Dachshund, which he is not. And Hooch, well they call him an English Mastiff, which is also wrong. I hate it when someone tells you what kind of dog your dog is! ~lol~
