    Thanks for the update, Phred.

ramanth - I can't believe I missed this whole thread. It must be such a scary thing for you guys to go through. I hope this last surgery fixes things forever and you never have to go through this again. I'm keeping you in my thoughts, and hoping things get back to normal fast!

    Last uppiedate for the night:

Like Phred said, he'll be on the ventilator all night but he's so sedated he should sleep well. He said this morning before he went into surgery that he didn't sleep at all last night.

I got to the hospital at 7 and they were giving him 2 units of blood. His brother and I were a bit concerned but the nurses said his blood count had dropped a little and the doctor figured a few units wouldn't hurt. They didn't seem too concerned. As we were leaving the nurses said he'd get one more unit as a 'pick me up'.

They hope to remove the ventilator in the morning.

    *fingers crossed*

The nurse said she'd call if there was a problem.

So no news is good news.

    I love you guys!!! Night!

I have been following the threads about poor Andy from the beginning but haven't had time to post until now.
Hugs to you Kimmy and I hope that Andy is doing better in the morning and that he can get off the ventilator soon.
The ICU nurses will keep an eye on him for you tonight while you get some much needed sleep.
    Get well soon Andy.
    RIP sweet Samantha

I just saw this thread this morning. Guess I wasn't on the computer much yesterday. Anyway, I was very sorry to hear that Andy had to have more surgery and had such a tough day. Hopefully today will bring better things and he will begin to mend quickly. Thoughts and prayers coming your way, Andy, Kimmy and families!

    Thanks everyone.

So far, no phone calls. Andy's mom and I are heading out the door now. We're hoping the ventilator will be already removed when we get there!

    *fingers crossed*

    *** GOOD NEWS ***

Andy's Breathing Tube should be *out* by now!!

Kimmy was greeted this morning by his Nurse announcing that
the Tech was on the way up to remove the breathing tube!!

Andy is still heavily sedated -
it will be a few hours before he really wakes up -
but he should be feeling a LOT better with the tube out.

Also means the Family can spend some quality time with him -
up to now they haven't been encouraged to either talk to or
"touch" him - they wanted him to remain quiet and resting...

He might not be ready for sprints down the hall -
but he's certainly in better condition than he was!

Keep the PT Prayers and Good Wishes flowing ~
    they MUST be working!!

    FEEL BETTER SOON - Andy!!

    {{{HUGS}}} to you and Kimmy!!
