    Back from the mitten excursion

Well, I dropped the five year old off in the same town where I have my mittens for sale. That was what I was doing with the child last night. I met her parents at a play last night, and brought the child home with me only to deposit her with her Grandmother for a few days, in Quechee, a little town on the VT NH border.

Chloe is getting the hang of the collar. The vet called and left a message asking if she was trying to remove her stitches.... it sounded as though they thought I had removed the collar...hmmmmmmm....maybe tomorrow. Poor Chloe. She sits with her head hanging over things.....in the most uncomfortable poses.....she will be so happy to have the collar removed. I will test her tomorrow.

I haven't heard any more hissing today. Juni was even hissing at Chloe. I think the stink from the vet along with the silly collar created a real stir here for awhile.

Last night Chloe stuck to my side, in bed, although the other two just walked around, hissing at Chloe and sniffing the child trying to sleep. Chloe, as I mentioned before, just tried to keep a low profile, sleep and not klunk into things.....tried.....and then tried some more!

I stopped once for an hour nap on the ride home to South Hero from Quechee. I was too tired to feel comfortable on the road, in the rain..... I just conked out - fell over - curled up on the front seat.... I have a manual transmission....so the gear shift was my best friend for about an hour. I felt refreshed after the rest.....didn't look it....but felt it. I had a few nasty looking sleep marks on my one cheek and my hair ..... well... you get the picture.... at least I wasn't a risk to the general public after the nap....except maybe I would scare another driver....

I think maybe the vet might have thought that Chloe may have removed the collar!

I'm glad to hear that everything is going well with her, and you're much better for the wear after a little nap.

    Diving for the stitches

As one might expect, Chloe went directly for her stitches, so the lampshade went right back on. I will call the vet tomorrow anyway, as I need to respond to their inquiry about how Chloe is doing. I will ask them when I might be allowed to remove the collar, knowing that the cat will start at the stitches. You have to see this poor kitty trying to navigate the water dish and food bowls. She must be plain old stupid. My other two cats seemed to get with the program easily. Chloe seems to be off balance having the collar on...the other two were fine walking....Maybe it has something to do with the vision field being altered.

I had a really good night's sleep last night. I feel totally refreshed.

Good, at least you feel better

Poor Chloe baby. She can't be happy like that and maybe is too tired to even react to Juni's and Miley's hissing. Some more days and it'll be over.

Maybe you could try removing the collar for mealtime and then put it back on again. At least while she is eating she would be distracted from wanting to get at her stitches. Does the wound appear to be healing as it should? Hannah did necessitate some antibiotics after her spaying because of an infection. So trust your instincts if you think she is being that much different from what you expect based on your previous experiences.

And keeping a five year old overnight and on a trip...my goodness, were you crazy?

    Chloe here....boy am I unhappy

Here is a photo taken only moments ago. I cannot believe my MOM keeps putting this thing back over my head. I hate it and try to make her feel as guilty as possible for making me wear it.

Here is a close up. The nerve of her to put that flashing thing in front of me.

Well, finally, after three days of wearing this awful collar, my Mom remembered that she had sent away for a different kind of collar a few months ago. She found the collar and here it is. Do I like it better, well, that is hard to say. I think she thinks it looks more comfortable, but it is still a pain in the ...... neck.... I do like the color!

When will this end? Someone, please help me!

Oh the nerve of some mommies. Not only is that plastic THING uncomfortable, but you can barely see over it and worst of all it has NO STYLE. I am glad she remembered that she had the nice blue collar for you instead. Anyway keep your chin up Chloe girl and remember your mommy loves you and wants you be a good girl and leave your stitches alone.
I hope the pitiful look is getting you extra cuddles and treats.

Dear Chloe, mommies who have a bad conscience are the best

Look at her as pitiful as you can and I am sure she will get the treat box out.

    Dear Chloe,
in two weeks time you will get my treats. In front of our entrance door there is a big bag full of kitty treats. I thought they were for me but my mom said no she will them all take away. I think that's worse than a collar

    Poor widdle Chloe

These pictures are darling and sad at the same time. Chloe you look like you are about to get a haircut in that pretty blue collar. SAS I do think the blue one must be much more comfortable for her. At least she should be able to reach her food and water easier.

    The collar is a must

I just talked with the vet and Chloe must wear the collar until her stitches are removed on June 1st...or if she leaves them alone. My guess is that she will NOT leave them alone, and I cannot trust her while she is alone....so it seems as though the collar will be her best friend for several days. I have TWO of the same blue collar, so if she rids herself of one....or if it becomes dirty....I have a backup one.....She will be disappointed to know this, I am sure!

She seems a tad happier with the blue collar. Tad.....

Oh Chloe girl, you must be happy that your mom found that blue collar for you, so you can eat and drink easier. It looks much more comfy!

Hang in there Chloe, there's only a few more days to go and you'll be out of it. Hope the sticthes heal up soon!

Fister had the first kind on for 10 days after his operation, I'm glad we didn't see him until the 5th day. But after getting home, he handled it quite well.
