When I first heard people say that here in Madison I was completely confused!!! I still find the term very funny, hehe.

Dixie means Southern. Yankee means Northern. People in America tend to have what is called a Southern accent or a Northern accent.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

70% Dixie. I would have thought it would be higher. Guess too much time spent in a big city.

I noticed on the sandwich question, they didn't have what I'd really say. The choices were Sub, Hoagie, Grinder and Hero. I picked Sub, but what I'd normally say would be Po'Boy.

Here's a couple that me and a northern friend usually debate over:

For being scared, she says Beejeebers and I say Bahjabbers.

For a near location reference, she says Kitty Corner and I say Katty Corner (although it sounds more like Kaddy Corner, with my accent).

Oh forgot to add the most telling Texas phrase:

Fixing to vs "just about" or "going to".

    Example:

    I'm fixing to make breakfast.

    vs

I'm just about to make breakfast.
