    I don't really care....I'm easy (no comments from the peanut gallery). My spring break is the first week of April and the last day of school is May 28. Those are the only important dates for me!

    We can make it work whenever everyone decides.

    I would love to make it in the warmer months, and with this much advance notice, I should be able to do it--no one I know is getting married until August, so I should be clear for June and July, or even May!!

    I don't think my husband would be too keen on coming, however, so I'll have to find a friend to bring with me
    I would definitely drive from Wisconsin to Ohio to meet little Kito! OMG! In a heart beat! Even if mom says no, I get my license soon *evil grin*, I can drive there and she can be the passenger.

    Kito and Malone are the two PT pups I would die to meet...I already met my other "die to meet" pup, Nala, so now there are only two left on the list.

    But then again...there were soooooo many adorable dogs at Findlay last time (Graham, Binx, Keegan, Nebo, Nala, Kia, etc) ; I don't know if I can go again. I just 'bout went into cardiac arrest last time- too many puppies for me to handle!

    Well, I would love to come to Findlay again, but I'm one of those squeaky mouse-type people who is not too keen on being outdoors in the cold (probably why I own cats rather than dogs, LOL). And like lovemyshiba, I worry about bringing Sammy in the car on such a long trip. Now that he's grown up, he is really miserable in the car, complaining a lot and sometimes upchucking or leaving "gifts" on the floormats, and that's only during a 3-hour drive to our cottage. I wish there was a good carsickness remedy out there for cats (Dramamine doesn't work).

    As far as dates, I can work around whatever is best for the group, as long as I have about 2 or 3 weeks notice.
    The legend says that Mohammed adored cats. When one of them was sleeping on his sleeve and he had to go out, Mohammed supposedly cut off the sleeve so as not to disturb his pet.

    We usually decide at the meeting before, and it's usually about 6 weeks, so notice is no problem.

    I will probably be waiting until one of the summer get togethers to come out. I have been informed that there are a great many projects going on in March, April and May - so I will probably not be able to come out until one in June or July. But I am definitely going to make it out at some point this year.

    Hopefully I can make it the same time as lovemyshiba. I also would love to meet Kito and Jada. Penny Lane would also be staying behind at my sister's house. She gets carsick on a 15 minute drive to my sis's house.

    So whens the date?

  12. #12

    the DATES ~

    So when's the date?
    The general consensus seemed to favor:

    SUNDAY, APRIL 18

    and

    Memorial Day SUNDAY, MAY 30

    April 18 is just after the Easter Weekends;
    and gives a reasonable gap till the next one.

    Memorial Day Sunday offers a three-day weekend to allow
    more distant Pet Talkers enough time to travel.

    I believe some folks are planning for these two date.

    Are we making any progress with the parks department on the dog registration dilema? I was going to call and talk to the guy and see what he thinks we should do and hope that he says to register 3 and bring shot records for the "guests" in the park, unless we hear something different.

    I have been in touch with one of the Hancock Parks District *Directors* -
    a full-time paid Manager of the Park.

    He has been aware of "problem" of Visiting Dogs since last summer;
    and has PROMISED me that he is working on a solution as
    fast as he can.

    I sent him a lengthy e-mail suggesting several possible solutions.
    He is currently reviewing my suggestions;
    consulting with the Dog Group who assisted with establishing the Bark Park;
    and talking with other Interested Parties.

    As I said on the phone last week, Molly -
    it IS going to talk a little while to develop a Visiting Dog Policy -
    and have it Approved by everyone who must approve a CHANGE
    in the existing Rules.

    *I* would suggest we wait for a few weeks to give Parks time to
    Study the problem and consider solutions that should be fair
    to both the TAX-Paying residents of Hancock County AND
    the non-residents who would like to "visit" on occasion.

    We have almost 6 weeks before our First Gathurin is scheduled.
    I expect he will have some advice for us before then.
