This breed was used for three main purposes. One was hunting.

No...here's what we have so far:

*This breed is a wonderful runner. It is up to almost 28 inches at the withers, and the average weight is 88 pounds. It was very popular some 2000 years ago, but almost went extinct in the 1970's. It's long outercoat and dense undercoat need lots of grooming. This breed needs lots of firm training. It has a special knack for catching fish.
*This breed is also very strong. They do well in strength carting.
*This breed has a curled tail.
*This breed was used for three main purposes. One was hunting.

Another hint: It is common for this breed to have blue eyes.

Nope. Siberian hsukies were already guessed, and the whippet isn't strong, doesn't have long fur, etc.

This dog is in the spitz group. (I thought someone might pick up on that from the curled tail..).
