I'm so sorry to hear about this. I really hope you take a lot of time in finding her a *good* home, as with the Easter/spring season I bet there's a lot of people that would take home a "cute bunny" for their kids. It'd be great if something could be worked out with some Pet Talkers here...I wish you the best of luck.

Although I also don't see how someone could have time for a g.pig but not a bunny....I don't see how Tikeyas_mom can be any sort of "expert" on the matter....or any matter involving pets. Each individual pet has individual needs, you really can't compare an entire species to another like that, especially since there are different types of bunnies and g. pigs too.

It is very refreshing to see "Mom" intervening here. If you all think it is best for Thelmer to find a new home, then I support you totally. I know that you will make sure she is going to a place where she will get the attention she deserves to have.

We Pettalkers are a mighty passionate bunch, and sometimes our reactions are based on the written word and it's hard to understand giving up one and adding another so quickly. I'm sure you will all think through your decisions very carefully.
Sandra, who is the BEST furry mom I know, has provided some good insight on Guinea Pig care, so I hope you will take that information and use it when deciding whether to add a "piggie" to your home.

    Best of luck.

I haven't had the heart to reply until now...

Thelmer, you cute furry bundle of trouble, I wish you all the best in finding a new furever home. Hopefully, Miss Ashley and Mister Julian will be able to welcome you into their lives.

Rottieluver, while I can't say I'm exuberant over your choice, I think it is wise and fair to Thelmer. I applaude you on being so grown up about the situation. I wish I were in a position that I could take her--but that's not possible at this point in time. I would like to offer some "food for thought"...

    1. It's nearing the big Easter "throw away" ie. shelters are soon going to be filling up fast with unwanted "easter bunnies." I BEG YOU (with tears in my eyes) TO PLEASE (if Ash is unable to take her) consider taking Aly up on her offer. I know Aly works at a cat/dog shelter but she has ties to the bunny shelter located in Austin. She might have some pull into getting Thelmer in if all cages are full. And on that note, if Ash is unable to take her, get her to the shelter ASAP while there is still available space.

    2. (again if Ash is unable to take her) PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not 'advertise' her as FREE. Charge a fee, $15.00 or so. If you run a "free" ad (and I don't mean to be harsh but I'm telling the truth) you might as well advertise her as food --either snake* or human. (Unfortunatly, there was a case not long ago of a shelter filling up on bunnies...they began to give them away... this was put to a stop when the shelter found out the bunnies were for human consumption).

I so wish I were able to help you out!!! But right now, my hands are tied. If you need help transporting (yes, I know NM is the opposite direction of TX/PA) please, please let me know.

Best of luck to you, Thelmer, and all involved.

*Yes, I realize snakes must eat too. But from Rottieluver's point of view, I don't think she wants to see her bunny in that situation.

This is an awesome Option if I am un-able to take Thelmer or we can't get her up here or whatever. Thanx Aly!

    I squeezed it outta him

    Squeezed What outta who??

Squeezed what he wanted me to do in order to help him think harder about Thelmer. Hee hee. It was a very easy thing to . All I had to do was clean both of my bedrooms. I cleaned bedroom 2 first because there was only a sock on the floor, lol. Then I cleaned Julians room. Which took me 2 hours. I had to scrub the carpet, get the cages in order, clean up from the box I gave Julian earlyer, take the carpet outta my closet, clean up the hay that was all over my room (lol), do some laundry, wash my bed sheets, clean his litter boxes and I was done . Now, I have to keep Bedroom 2 in order, like no clothes on the floor or anything and it still has to look like a "Guest" Bedroom even though I sleep in there. And I have to keep my room a little bit cleaner then it was. So hopefully tomrrow my dad will tell me yes or no. He likes to think about things for awile, I just hope he had a good thinkin time while he was away this week.

well how far away does ash live from you? bus or aybe plane. You might not want to go that far as to find Thelmer a home. Maybe someong in your area can take Thelmer?
