I gave Little Boy a bowl of kitten crunchies and a bowl of cat crunchies and he chose the cat food!

I guess he's trying to tell me that he's a big boy now.

He was a little more active this morning and last night he was weaving around my legs after he had his dinner. I'm trying to get him used to a person standing and petting instead of getting down to his level all the time.

    Kim,

I LOVE that picture of Zam. She's such a pudgy little thing. Hope things are going better now that you've got the rescue remedy.

Don't worry about LB eating regular cat crunchies. Eli wanted no part of kitten food. He's been eating regular cat crunchies and is doing great!

There was at least one fight that woke me up. Zam has scratches on her face so I know LB is not holding back. He looks okay.

He only growls at Zam but if Kia gets nosy, he howls, hisses and spits.

Then Kia will look at me like, "What did I do!?"

I saw the new picture in your sig, but missed the whole story until now!! Wow! You have had a busy month!!! Sounds like you are making real progress with LB and even if he never adjusts to Zam and Kia at least he is getting along with humans better...that should help find him a home if neccesary!

Good luck....just take it one step at a time

Despite spats, neither cat really seems to be out for blood.

Last night Little Boy Boba was out and about while I was getting ready for bed. He was quite vocal, meowing at me, but shying away if I reached to pet him.

Zam was on the other side, letting me know she wanted in. Boba would sniff at the door, all the while purring.

Hoping for a miracle I let Zam in.

Boba bolted towards the window, Zam in hot pursuit, me pleading with Zam to not pick on him.

Backed against the window sill, Boba growled and made airplane ears at Zam. Zam stood imposingly over him, and then backed off. I sat between them, petting them both, causing them both to purr.

I gave them each a kiss goodnight in turn and went to bed to read for awhile. Kia joined me shortly after and then Boba came into view, laying down by the nightstand, purring VERY loudly.

Zam and Boba could see each other from across the room, but neither made an attempt to go after the other.

Zam slowly stalked him though and about an hour after I turned off the light, she made her move and I woke up to a scuffle.

I would expect by now that they would of come to terms that she's in charge. He never challenges her. She has always been the one to pounce. No wonder he growls at her.

But things have been getting better. As long as Kia keeps her distance, Boba doesn't seem to mind her.

Since they both eat the same food now, I left the door open for Zam and Boba to interact while I'm at work.

heehee....I like the subtlety (sp?) in that last sentence.

I'm so glad to hear things are getting better. I'm sure Zam will display her dominance to her satisfaction real soon and things will all calm down. However, even then, you can expect a spat now and then when Zam feels she has to reaffirm her status as top cat. This will probably continue the rest of their lives. For some reason top cats feel they need to reaffirm every now and then, just to make sure.....

    I guess so!

Last night I wanted to scream!

Geez, I can't figure Zam out. She BIT him yesterday. He was just laying there and she stalked over and was sniffing him and he was growling. I was trying to reassure him that she was just sniffing when Zam goes and nips him in the butt!

    So much for reassurance.

Everytime I see what looks like promise, gets dashed away when Zam decides to be the B**chy Queen.

Well.... before she bit him, there was a moment when all three were by the window. Kia and Zam were watching something outside, and Boba was lying on the floor near them purring.

Only when Zam would be across the room, crouched and ready to pounce, would Boba growl at her. If she indicated that she wasn't going to attack him by walking away or looking away, he'd stop growling.

Boba still growls at Kia, but I think he's realizing that she isn't going to hurt him.

Donna, do you think I should administer some more Rescue Remedy?

    Kim,

I think you'd be better off giving Zam the Rescue Remedy. Like I said before, once LB is neutered, I'm almost positive that things will calm down.

Up and Down... still about the same.

But.. Boba peed on Kia's dog bed!

Got the urine smell out of my apartment but I'm not sure about Kia's bed. (It's soaking in Febreeze at my parents house)

I washed the liner three times and it still smells a little.

    Gotta get that booger fixed.

    Some cats!

Yikes, does this story sound familiar, or what? I am still in the middle of a Vermont Cat War.....and hoping for a change any time now.

I am having company over the Mother's Day holiday and hope that by having extra people around, Miley will come out of hiding!

    Yikes, those darn cats!

As I awoke to the alarm clock, I realized that I had some additional weight on my back. Yep. Boba. LOL!

And he was purring up a storm.

More progress with Kia and Boba but about the same with Zam and Boba.

Kia has been putting her nose in Boba's face when he's on the bed. Sometimes he growls, but for the most part he just tenses, but doesn't run away.

He smacked her when she got a bit TOO nosy.

And as always she backs off. They were both on the bed (opposite ends of course) when I went in to check on them.

Another good thing... he comes out now when he hears me getting their dinner ready. He'll sit in the doorway and watch us.... unfortunately Zam does not like this and she'll go charging after him. But he keeps coming back.
