    Dear God,

Here we are again, asking for your help for sweet Bassett. Bassett had some tests, thank you for helping the doctor to figure out what is wrong.

Lord, we know you created this sweet kitty for a purpose. Her mommy is fearful that this may be the end for this angel you have given her. Would you please let Bassett live a long, happy life? Her mommy and her sisters would really appriciate it.

Thank you for Bassett and her mommy. Please be with them during this uncertain time.

    Amen.

    Love, Kelly and critters.

Know that we are all sending our prayers to God, He'll hear us. I just know it. Kiss your sweeties at home for me, as well as our little sickie, Bassett.

    Take care.
    ...RIP, our sweet Gini...

Thank you all for your prayers. I called the vet just a moment ago, and they haven't started her treatment yet because they've been doing surgeries all morning. However, the tech said that she's eating and acting more calmly than last night, which will be good for her blood pressure. Also, when I called the tech said that Bassett stopped what she was doing and looked out to the office, as if she knew it was me on the phone! It wouldn't suprose me if she did know. I have a bunch of questions that I want to talk to the vet about, so I kind of have a phone appt. for 1:45. Maybe I will know more then.

I know I slept last night, but I sure don't feel like I did. My head hurts and my entire body is stiff.. but when I talk to the vet I will see if I can go visit Bassett. If they have her sedated I won't go, because I think that would be unhealthy for both her and I.

Please keep the prayers coming.. Just that Bassett has calmed some makes me know that they are working.

Thanks so much, and I love you all.

Good luck Naomi, it's a good start that Bassett is keeping calm. She must be feeling more comfortable after having some of that fluid drained. We'll keep checking in to see how you are going, paws and fingers are still crossed for you and Bassett.

I have only just read this thread about Bassett and I am so very sorry to find out she is so ill. My heart is hurting for you and her. I will pray for her to get whatever she needs to be well again and back home with you. Sending positive thoughts, love and hugs for you both.

This flipping time zone 'thing' is a nuisance when we're waiting to hear news of a much loved furkid.
We're thinking of going to bed over here in Europe and your somewhere about the 1-3pm time over there!! So it's going to be tomorrow morning before we get up to speed on Bassett's condition - please don't think we've not got this sweet furkid on our (collective) minds - we have. Roll on morning when we can catch up on the news.

Well, I just got off the phone with the vet. She had thought Bassett might be able to come home tongiht, but she can't. They had to put her out with gas to draw the fluid out of her chest, because Bassett wasn't cooperating.. hehe.. she's feisty! Anyway, they drew out 55cc but I don't know how to convert that.. I have no clue. Anyway, apparently it's a lot. Tomorrow I will have results back from the fluid sample and a blood panel, so tomorrow is basically decision day. I feel a sense of dread.. I just feel like it's going to be bad news I told the vet that over the summer I think Bassett knocked a TV off a dresser, and so she might have injured herself. The vet was interested and said that she would look into it.. she had sort of ruled out trauma because Bassett is indoors. However, I kind of hope it is trauma and not a heart condition because then it's not going to stay with her forever. However, the vet seems to be leaning toward a heart problem.

The results will be in tomorrow morning, so I will let everyone know what the scoop is then. Please continiue praying for her, as I think the prayers are helping.

Oh Nomilyn... I'm so sorry I didn't get to check in on Bassett yesterday and I was so sad to read what you and your baby are going through. Well, we're not going to give up hope or praying for a recovery. Bassett is too young and too loved to leave you now. Me and Mr. B and Oliver will be praying our hardest for your beautiful Basset and her recovery. {{{hugs}}} Sandra, Mr. B and Oliver

Still keeping Bassett in our prayers. By the way, do you pronounce it bassETT or BASSett? I know God will know who we mean, but I'd like to pray it correctly anyway!

there is more emphasis on the front part, like BASSett.. it's pronounced like basset hound but that's not how she got her name. When I got her, I thought she looked like tiger ice cream, which is orange ice cream with black licorice. I didn't want to name her Tiger.. I thought it was too common. I also really didn't think she looked like a Licorice either, so I went with Bassett, which is a brand of licorice candies:

I will let everyone know in the morning after I've talked to the vet how things look. Thanks everyone, for being here for me. It really does help.

I'm in the process of trying to get my scanner to work, and I would love to post some pics. I went through them all today.. I cried to whole time, to see her healthy and now this.. anyway, I will be posting pics as soon as my scanner smartens up.

On another note, I just re-read all the posts here, and I just want everyone to know what they mean to me. They are sources of comfort when I think I'm almost at my breaking point. Thank you all so much, and after I talk to the vet tomorrow morning, I will let you know her prognosis.

    Thanks so much.

Naomi I'm so glad Bassett is holding on and slightly improving thats the way it goes best - slowly, slowly! I know you must be worried to death - but just think of all the prayers God is getting on the Pet Talk line. She can do this and so can you {{{{Hugs}}} across the miles.
