    Something to think about

I thought I would start a thread where we could post those pieces of philosophy that we come across in our daily lives. Sometimes wise, sometimes funny, and usually - as the title says - gives us something to think about.

    I'll begin with this one.

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether this happens at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps on learning not only remains young, but becomes constantly more valuable regardless of physical capacity.

I can't remember where I first saw this, but when I did my first thought was "that's my life." I use it now on my kennel letterhead ect. (Kennel name is Wandering Spirits)

    I have many favorites...

the ones in my signature, but, especially "The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world."

"I get up. I walk. I fall down. Meanwhile, I keep dancing."

"No matter how slow the film, Spirit always stands still long enough for the photographer it has chosen."

"There is nothing more important than today."

"I cannot change or heal what I do not acknowledge."

"You can tell more about a man in an hour of play than in a year of conversation."

The rest of the quote is in my signature. It's Aragorn's Song, written by Bilbo Baggins, if you are interested. (Yes, I know, I'm an erormous Tolkien geek.)

"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien

I knew I'd seen it in someone's signature recently! I like the whole quote too, which is a little suprising considering I'm not a Tolkien/Lord of the Rings fan!

I have loved this quote ever since I saw it in a travel magazine.
