Meet Emma, the new baby rottie!! (update)

This is Emma, my mother's new little dog, Rocky's little sister. Today, she's 8 weeks old (she and my Luna are sharing their birthday, April 22nd), and she arrived in her new home today.

Her arrival didn't go too smoothly, because she ran into Dino (the 7 year old male cat) as soon as she came out of the car, and she was terribly scared. She screamed in a very high-pitched voice and disappeared under the car, and Dino ran away (and hasn't been seen ever since).

After this scary adventure, Reinhold carried her into the house, where she relaxed after a couple of minutes:

She then spent some time in a private place where she had some time to calm down. The breeders gave my mother a piece of a blanket that Emma had shared with her mother and siblings. Guess that felt a bit like home.

Peggy (calico cat) showed up to greet her, but again, Emma reacted scared and screamed, and after that, Peggy prefered to remain upstairs. Emma, after a while, started playing with her new toys:

She also decided that it's fun to chew on a shoe:

Eventually she got tired and took a nap:

When she woke up, we decided that it may be time for a little walk. It was the first time she ever walked on a leash, and she did great! But she didn't pee or poop when we were outside, she did it later in the house. LOL

    (To be continued)

Being carried around by my mom:

She was allowed to eat from Rocky's bowl, which surprised me. Normally Rocky doesn't like it at all when someone approaches his food:

    Encounter with "big brother" Rocky:

He was very interested, but friendly, and didn't act jealous. Emma was a bit scared in the beginning, but not too much. We went for another short walk with the two of them, and everything went fine. Now I hope she will also become friends with the cats.

    Another thing:

I noticed she has a very strong scent, sort of like an old shoe. Rocky doesn't smell like that, his fur has a fresh scent. I was surprised that an animal that young has such a strong scent, but maybe it's from the kennel she lived in when she was still with her first family (she was also allowed to be in the garden or the house, but they also spent some time in the kennel.)

Well, I will post updates on Emma and Rocky, if you're interested in their story.

I think the smell is probably a kennel smell. What dogs kept in groups
might smell like.Giving her her first bath should take care of that.I loved
the picture of your Mom carring Emma. Better do a lot of that now, cause
in a few months you might not be able to. She's just a beautiful little
    pup.

    Oh my gosh.

That is the most precious baby girl, EVER!

How as Rocky reacted to her, and her to Rocky??

*edit* Hehe, it seems I was posting as you posted your last bit. What a good boy, Rocky!

Dogs usually are a lot more tolerable of puppies than adult dogs. They don't seem them as much of a threat.

Yes, I heard that, too. I also think it's easier for Rocky to tolerate a girl than a boy. He usually loves girls, but doesn't get along with all males.

Emma is beautiful! I am not even in love with rotties, but, I do love her! She's got a great face! Rocky's so handsome, I like the photo of him looking down at her. The look on her face is priceless!

She is so, so adorable! She looks a little scared in the last picture. I'm so glad Rocky took to her. I cant wait to see more pictures of the both of them. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

Congratulations to your mom on her absolutley adorable puppy! Could the smell you are talking about be the "Puppy breath" I have not yet had the chance to smell? People on here talk about it all the time.

    Interested?

Are you kidding?! I for one am very interested

OMG she is totally adorable and I love those big paws and soft little pads of hers (yes, I love the pads too ).

I was just on my way out the door to work and just thought I'd take a sec...good thing I did! This has really made my day.

I have to say your parents are very lucky to have 2 such wonderful rotties in their lives!

Looking forward to growing pictures (oh and I love the one of her looking at big brother...the best picture ever!)!
