Yep, I'm not sure why Marla doesn't want to go with an AI -- she says she doesn't like to do them for first breedings, but I do know that in general she doesn't like them at all. She doesn't believe in breeding a dog that can't breed "on it's own" so she likes to know that the dog CAN breed on it's own rather than AIing.

We're pretty sure that we're going to breed her to Rogue now, but the site is down so no pics for you to see. I'm still searching though, not just tervs but groens too, just incase I find something that would really match V well.

Cali, the male is Gunner from Spiritus Reg'd, and I love him so much that Marla said she'd do the breeding (even though she wanted to stay away from breeding two high drive dogs), but the breeder is already studding Gunner out several times this year and isn't comfortable doing another breeding.

lol that kennel name sounded familer so I looked into it, Keiry is from dreamfeilds who sold her to Spiritus who rehomed her to Weskys, she was supposed to be a showdog but was not interested so she was given to Weskys to be a preformance dog.

I'm not a fan of Rogue's head either, but it's not absolutely awful and if he's got a temperament that will compliment Visa really well, I'm sure the pups will turn out great. It's too bad that Gunner is too high drive for Visa, he's a beautiful dog. I love the Spiritus Belgians..

I was going to ask this once before and then forgot, do you know how many more litters Visa will be having? I'd imagine not many and she's probably be retired by the time I'm ready for a Belgian, but I thought I'd ask as I'm not sure how old she is now.

    Ooh! Look at this boy.

He sounds just PERFECT. He's a service dog, so he must have a great temperment, and that is what we are looking for! That is the most important thing, is to breed Visa to a dog with a stable and solid temperment. He's in Washington, so not far, and apparently he is quite an outstanding producer. OFA good, elbows and eyes clear, thyroid normal and free of vWD. Four titles, and he's in the top 20 AKC tervs. I can't believe I found a service dog, that would be the best kind of dog to match up with Visa, I'm emailing the breeder now to ask more about him.

I'm thinking just one or two more. She is three years now, so that gives you time. I'm thinking I may breed her in 2-3 years. If I can make it in two years, I will breed her the year after as well, if I can make it three years, that will probably be her last litter. I'd like to go with Gunner that time, I think, unless this litter works out really well and I decide to do a repeat. I wouldn't mind a high drive litter though, so Gunner might be a good match.

Here, I attached the pic, hope it works!

Alright, looks like we may finally have things figured out!

Marla doesn't like that male, but is willing to do that breeding if this other one falls through --- she is friends with a breeder on the island who co-owns this boy. So it looks like this may be our match. She just has to talk to the breeder and see if the temperments will match up. If they don't, then the male I picked (above) might work out. I emailed the breeder and he sounds like a very nice dog, especially for Visa. Every breeding he's done has been to bring up type and bring down drive, which is what we'd like. I've decided that I will probably only breed her to lower drive dogs in the future as well. A low drive Belgian is still high drive for most breeds, and either way there will still be a couple of high drive pups in the litter for those that want one.

Mmm.. That leaves me with what I want.. a calmer Belgian, still with average drive.

    Hehehe.

Marla remembers a breeding that took place between Tommy and a female that she really liked, so she's going to ask the breeder if there is a puppy from that litter that is at stud around here.

I just finished talking to Cajun's breeder though, and she told me that you can register a tervXgroen pup with CKC, but if one of the parents in AKC registered, you can't register it with AKC. So now I want to talk to Marla about reconsidering breeding her to a terv, atleast an AKC one. I want to compete with my pup in the states.
