Please count me in as a "for sure". I have my plane ticket but haven't reserved a room yet. I'm not sure how far from LAX Gini is; sorta thought I'd stay away from Dizzyland, since I don't plan to go there and the closer to it, the higher the prices (I'm assuming).

I'm arriving around midnight on Thursday and leaving at midnight on Monday. No plans in between except the barbecue. Suggestions welcome.

    Amberlee,

I'm sorry if I did this again too. I just forget sometimes, I promise I don't mean to be rude. I know its very important to you...I"m sorry if I caused you any pain.

I'll try even harder in the future to make sure I don't use your name.

Thank you for making the correction, Slick. Previously I've PMed people who have used my real name here and requested them to stop/modify their posts. Some have complied with my request and some didn't. My real name is slightly unusual and I've been tracked down and pestered in the past (twice) by some somewhat spooky peoples -- once last autumn by a guy who spooked me badly by linking several of my online personna and trying to find me in real life. (Didn't Mark Twain have a wry comment about a burnt cat never sitting on the stove again, whether it was turned on or not??? I'm that cat, apparently.)
This morning was ... challenging ... and I over-reacted badly. Sorry to blow up like that.

And thanks to all for future consideration. I want to be know here as AmberLee, PLEASE.

Per Yahoo maps, Gini is about a half hour drive from LAX. It's the closest major airport so far as I could find.

Oddly enough, my experience is that there are so many hotels/motels around Disneyland that the competition keeps the costs down. But the drive (as best I remember) is a pretty long one.

Furama Hotel has free shuttle service to and from LAX. Deals can still be made for a room with two double beds for approx $72 nightly. "FURama" gotta love it Just went to "Orbitz", prices right now are $59 nightly. It sounds like a very safe, clean, all amenity hotel.

Laurie, bless you, you are way ahead of me. I looked up the FURama Hotel too - just to find out its location. Tracey thanks for the address - and Amberlee, you are right - it is about one half hours drive from my home and near the beach.

Mruffruff - how exciting that you will be coming too. The hotels tend to be expensive here - and the motels all seem to be in a bad area that I hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Maybe you could look into getting a room at the FURama too.

If you find other accommodations, let me know, and I can tell you at least the area it is in.

I know I had brought up the idea of having mugs made early in this thread. I would need to know how many people would like to purchase one, so I can make a bulk order for the cheapest price. We also need to decide what to put on them and what style of mug everyone would be happy with...

    Thoughts, suggestions welcome

I can answer one.....It's when the bartender has enough....

    --------------------------------------------------

That story goes back to last year when we (Gini, Slick and I)
were tossed from the bar at Slick's hotel.

We weren't misbehaving or rowdy....It was just late....

But, it sounds VERY bad If we just say we were tossed out...

    Slick:

Would you please delete the link to the former post? I would prefer that it not be hightlighted. Thank you.

    DONE!
I've also done a search to find any thread where I have called you by your first name and edited them too.

BTW: there are many instances of your first name on Pet Talk. I wonder if you should create a thread in General and express your wishes. Just a thought.

By the way, the FURama Hotel also has free shuttle s to Ventura Beach, right down the road. It would be a dang shame to be that close and not dip your toes in the ocean (not to mention the experience of people-watching along the sea wall) Check out the toe polish

I'm not sure who's in charge of mugs and T-shirts, but please sign me up for two of each. (XL on the shirt.)

I've been so busy admiring the new kittens, I haven't had time to search for a place to stay. I better get to it or I'll be warming someone's lawn at night!

Mary, this is a joke leftover from last year's BBQ - but if you ask Laurie really nicely - I bet she would share some (or one) of her mattresses. She had quite a collection last year.

It is a long story - we can share it with you when you arrive.

Also, I started thinking about last year and including spouses there were 12 Pet Talkers including myself last year.

This year my guest list is up to 27 at last count. Is that exciting or what?

The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for additional manpower for that week.

There may be a tactical alert called and the SWAT and HRT (hostage rescue team) from the FBI have been alerted.
