I'd like to get a definite headcount of people and pups so I have enough treats for all.
I think we're going to have to pass after all. Just not enough time to do everything... but when we have more time I would really love to come up, it looks like a gorgeous place. So sorry

    Allrighty then.

    DAY: Sunday, June 26th
TIME: Noonish (eat around 1 or 2 p.m.)

    Food:
Kimmy ~ Meats and Buns, Chips, Cake and Ice Cream
    Phred ~ Cookies and Drinks

I'll snag the grill (or have my parents bring it). It's a little table top propane, so if my parents can't make it... does anyone know how to work those?

I will have my cell phone on me. PM if you need it.

Since my mom isn't going to make it, I can attempt her potato salad. No promises though!!

Kimmy, where can we get parking passes?

Amy, there should be a park ranger monitoring the entrance. You can buy a daily pass from them. However, on the chance that someone is not there, I'd suggest parking at the school.

If the ranger were to come back and you were parked in the lot, you'd probably get ticketed.

Or, if no ranger is located at the Bark Park entrance, I believe you could go to the Orion Oaks park entrance and get a day pass there. (Never been there myself... I believe the entrance is off of Clarkston Rd.)

    Potato salad sounds yummy!

    Tater Salad??

    Dad sez Oh, GUDDIE!!"

    Parking Passes??

Last year there was a Lad parked just inside the Parking Lot Entrance,
off Joslyn Road, and he was Selling Car Passes ...
(He seemed like a Volunteer - no "Ranger" Uniform or vehicle.
Don't *think* he was a "Scalper" - sellin bootleg passes!)

    Motor Vehicle Day Use Fees

Valid at Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks,
Lyon Oaks, Orion Oaks and Rose Oaks.

$5 per car per day: Oakland County residents
$10 per car per day: Non-Residents

The really nice part was -
"everyone" got the "County Resident Rate" at the gate =
    $5 with no questions asked!

Hope that same Nice Guy is selling on Sunday!
You might try "offering" just a $5 bill,
like that's all you *expect* to pay!

PS: Go to this page and >PRINT< the "Dollar Off" CUPON ...
    Truth be told:
I had printed last year's Dollar Off Cupon and had it with me ...
but was so *shocked* when the seller said "$5" -
I was expecting to hear "$10" ... I plumb furgot the Buck-Off deal!
FIVE seemed better than the $9 I was hoping for!

    How to >FIND< Kia's Party ~

Here's the close-in MapQuest map of the "Orion Oaks Park" >>>

The Red Star is ON the Dog Park Entrance -
off Joslyn Road; a bit south of W. Clarkston Road.

    It's about mid-way between Flint and Detroit;
about 8-10 miles due north of downtown Pontiac, Michigan.

Here's the directions from Interstate 75:

    1) Get off I-75 at: the JOSLYN RD exit- EXIT 83.

    2) Turn NORTH on Joslyn Road & drive 4.2 miles on Joslyn.

    3) Dog Park Entrance is on the LEFT (west) side of the road.

If you get to W. Clarkston Rd or pass an Elementary School
on the right - you went a bit too far.

You CAN park in the Elementary School Lot - the north Service Road
gate to the Dog Park is just across the road from the school.

    If you want Driving Directions from MapQuest;
    go to http://www.MapQuest.com and enter
    [ 1255 Joslyn Rd ]
    [ Lake Orion MI 48360 ]

After you get the Map; ask for "Driving Directions" and
    enter your starting address.

It seems like when we came two years ago, we met in the school parking lot. Are we planning on meeting soemwhere outside the park again, or just find each other within?

    Don't *wait* for us ...
With a four hour trip - hard to predict exactly when we'll get there.

WE're prolly just gonna Pay to Park in the Park's parking lot -
    assuming there is room!

Only hang-up with using the School lot is if we stay past the time
the Park *LOCKS* that Service Road Gate ...

Y'all remember the *phunn* of climbing Over & Through that gate!

If the Early Arrivers hang near the North End of the original
Dog Park - near the Water Pump and the Party Table -
we should all be able to *find* each other.

    Cinder here ~

Hmmmm ... FOUR Hours drive ... at least wun Poddy Stop ...
    arrive about Noon-ish ....
= We gotta roll Dad outta da BigBed by 6:30 AM -
GUD GRIEF - won't DAT be *phunn*!

I wanted to add that there have been days where the Service Gate will stay locked all day and they don't even open it.

    Sounds like a plan.

I think you need to plan an Ohio/Michigan trip sometime Kelly! We can always plan a Dog Park gathering of some sort around special guests coming in from miles away
