    The Rutherford update.

Rutherford is out of surgery. All went well. He should come home tomorrow. Complications should be at a minimun concerning the P.U. surgery. But his bladder has been damaged over the years, probably from his frequent UTI and possibly having stones longer than we suspected. The doctor said his bladder has the texture of leather (vs. the soft velvet feel it should have). It will never be "normal" but hopefully it will do its job.

The stones will be sent out for analysis. He will have pain meds, antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory. He will go back in 3 weeks to have the stitches removed (under sedation).

I am to call on him tomorrow morning.

    Hope he's home soon.

My Pete had this same surgery three years ago. He's just fine now! He actually came home a different cat (Pete had to fly to see a specialist about 3000 km from home!) He left a miserable, depressed, cat who hid every chance he got. He came home a purring, affectionate, happy boy!

Jen I'm so glad to hear that it's over and it went well. I'm sure Rutherford can't wait to get back home to his meowmie. Poor baby! At least it's done and it sounds like Rutherford is going to be a lot better for it.
BIG KISSIES to the sweet boy and we are praying for a quick recovery!! Keep us posted Jen.

Rutherford is HOME! And he could not be in better spirits. All he wants is loving (as per usual). Chin scratches and belly rubs all around! I am woking on some cone-head and incision pictures. Wil probably start a new thread.
