I am so glad Herc will be all right, but you know, this does make me think, would it be possible for us to set up some sort of "family fund" for instances like this? If everyone that posts here gave a few bucks/month, we could have some sort of emergency fund available for situations like this or to help folks like DogResQ (see "Unbelievable") and Hope. Whatcha all think?

Sorry, I haven't posted latley, I have had all day classes yuck!

But I do have some more news, guess what Hercs home. He came home last night, my brother went over after work to see him and the vet asked if he wanted to take him home. Chris thought she was joking but the vet said ya he is fine and has been up and crying for Jen ever since she left him at lunch so we think if you keep him VERY quiet he can go home.

So he is at home, he doesn't want to stay quiet he wants to go go go so he stays in his cage most of the time and snuggles in bed when he's quiet and tired. He is not in a cast so they are really carefull with him. He has a cone on his head so he can't chew at his leg, he looks sooo cute, I'll have to post pics when I get them devoloped.

Well I gotta go, I have the pleasure of babysitting Emma tonight and she just woke up

My pets are usually pleased with what I do, because they are not inflected with the concept of what I SHOULD be doing. My time is owned by: Missie,Thor, and Trinity!

Just checking in to see how Hercules is
doing today...I hope he is able to heal
    quickly!!!

    ktreva52,
I've been thinking about your idea for a
general 'animal fund' to help out & offer a
'helping paw' to those who need it. I would
definately support such a fund! I'm not a
wealthy person by any means, but a few dollars a month by members here could really
add up. So if it's O.K. by Karen & Paul,
I would be happy to contribute to such a
    'helping' fund!!!

I'm playing catch up again, but I'm so glad I was able to read a happy ending! The mysteries of life never cease to amaze me! How comforting that Chris and Jen had such fabulous luck and that Herc has a guardian puppy on his wee shoulder!
I think that KTreva had a brillant idea! I'm not wealthy either, but if any of my PetTalk family needed help, I'd do what I could in a minute!!! If everyone gave $5,10 a month, we could start a PetTalk Health Fund! Afterall, you never, ever know when you need help. If you can't rely on your friends, and not be ashamed or afraid, who can you turn to, esp; if family is unable.?
I don't sit here at 1130p cause I don't have anything else to do! I may be a little tardy sometimes, but I know there are many of us who contsnatly keep in touch. C'mon, I know we all must like each other immensely (in my case love) to care so much!
Is it leagl? Don't know. Don't care. I don't think it's soliciting!/ For those of you who are not working or in school, so what, nobody has to know how much who gives or WHO gives.! AND when we don't use it, cause we all have healthy puppsters, we can use it to build Petsville (LOL!) OR have a reunion someday!
Bottom line, I'm all for it!!

    Hey guys

A quick update. Little Herc is doing well. He isn't the happeist puppy in the world but he is doing good and he's not in any pian.

He has to stay in a crate with a cone on his head for another 4 weeks, he isn't allowed to move other then to go out for his duties and then right back in. They let him out and wrap him in a blanket so he can't move for his snuggles he misses sleeping in bed under the covers at night, but they just can't take the chance that they might roll on his leg.

He has six screws in his leg and they each have to be cleaned with proxide twice a day, it's hard to do because he hates it.

But the vet garantees he will be back to 100% in 4-5 weeks.

Oh poor Herc! My heart goes out to that little angel. I hope these 4 weeks pass quickly for him and that by the time Santa Paws comes with lots of treats, he will be running around like new!

Herc is not liking life right now, but bet he will make up for it in just about 4 to 5 weeks. He is such a sweet little boy, glad to hear he is making progress and it won't be long before he will be back doing what he likes best. Hugs and kisses

I'm so glad Herc is doing better. It won't be long before he's back to his happy, busy little self.

Here's a further thought on a fund to help out. We have 2,200+ members. If everyone donated $1 per month for a year, that would come out to over $26,000 in a year. That would help out a lot of emergency needs or for some of the rescue dogs' needs. All we need is someone to administer the fund and act as "selection committee" for needs/requests. Anyone willing to do that? If the funds were put in a liquid mutual fund account, they would be accessible and earning interest. We could set it up as a not-for-profit if necessary and work from there or as a sort of group insurance thing. Any attorneys out there? What would be the legal ramifications? Tax liabilities? I think it would be best if any requests for funds include the vet's name and address and funds could be sent directly to the vet. That way, no one would have to worry about propriety. The other pet folks should probably have a look at this, too.
