    In the end, I think your heart will give you the answer Sue! I for one am NOT in the least bit surprised that you and your family are falling in love with these sweet boys!! And while fostering is the most "visible" aspect of rescue, there are so many other vital links in the rescue chain, just as important, that you can participate in should you decide on adoption! I know you don't like driving, but there's adoption coordinating, phone screening, home checks, even short term fostering, for just a day or two or a weeekend! Logan did several of those, where she filled in for another foster Mom when she had to be out of town, etc. I think you're quite overwhelmed right now...SO much goings on with Gaylord, his illness, Bandit, his illness, foster Bandit, his little set back, not to mention everyone sick with the flu, Diana's scare...did I forget anything???? Try not to think on it too much for a day or two! Wait till your new baby comes home and after a few days, when everything and everyone has had a chance to recoup, have a family pow pow! You're heart will let you know! You're amazing!!!!!!!!!! {{{sigh!!}}}

I just got a message on my answering machine to foster a female in a shelter that needs to be pulled. Since Bandit is at the vet, they asked if I could take her. BTW, I called on Bandit and he is still swollen, but the bleeding has stopped.

I don't know what to do now. I won't call her back til tomorrow after I have time to think.
It is a female. Shiloh doesn't like females. It is in the shelter. Killian can't have anything brought in to him, already his immune system is acting odd (ear things).
She is in the shelter. Don't like that part at all. I'll get details tomorrow.
The call was from the lady who has the adopter for Bandit. I wonder if this has anything to do with my maybe keeping Bandit or just a coinsidence. Hmmm. They know I really like Bandit.....

Sue, this is a predicament and I am not the one to give you advice because I know what I would do and that would be to keep Bandit.

OK, a poor GSD female is sitting in a shelter in Indiana. She has Pancreatic Insufficiency. She will be pulled on Friday and take Bandit's place at the vet's office. I will take Bandit back on Friday. I told my rescue contact that I MAY be interested in adopting Bandit. I have to take him to the adoption event this Saturday in Northbrook, however. Still don't know what to do.

    Sue,

I'm sure not the one to give advise, BUT, LOL

I was secretly hopeing you would adopt Gaylord. You can
tell that I'd flunk "fostering" Bandit is a gorgeous GSD, but
as you said having three dogs would probably stop other
long term fostering. It's really a difficult decision. Do you know
what Shelter in Indiana has the GSD you mentioned? btw, I
just met a neighbor's new dog today, a beautiful, purebred
GSD. He is a Gorgeous dog. I got to hear that big, deep hello
bark that only a GSD can give. Pure Heaven. Liz.

Ahhh, Liz, and now you see why I love the breed so much and can't let them go......... I have loved a Great Pyrenees, but it is not the same as a GSD....

    Sue,

I truly understand.....There IS no other animal like a GSD

I do like all breeds & they each have their own special
charm, but GSD's are the dog of my heart

Poor Bandit, more complications. He didn't bleed for two days and when the techs came in this morning, there was blood all over. They think it was another blood blister. I don't know how much blood this poor boy can lose. Maybe he has a clotting problem? I feel so bad for him. He has been through so much. Both he and Gaylord have!
He won't be back with me til he stops bleeding again. Please pray that he will heal quickly.

Sandra, do you think they might be referring to VonWillebrand or a type of hemophilia? I've never seen either of these, but I think VW is a possibility.

Hmmmmm, it's possible Sue Do you know if they did a bleeding panel and clotting time? It's a simple blood test. From there they would further explore the cause, should his values be off. Had be been on aspirin or any other meds with anticoagulant properties before the surgery?? Poor Bandit. I want to go home to his Mom!!

I'll have to check with the vet. I don't think they do a blood panel before surgery because when I asked about Gaylord's liver values before giving him Rimadyl, they said they did not do one and they had neutered him already. Now how do I convince them to do the blood test.... I am getting to be very expensive for their rescue......
Thanks for the info, Sandra! Slurps and wags to Star*** and Cody and you, too!!

Poor little guy I hope he quits bleeding soon and gets to come home. I'm sure he just hates having to stay there just as much as you hate it for him.
    He'll be in my prayers.
