Tuxluvr, that photo is great! Ritzy doing the Sumo pose! Too funny!

Yewhew, welcome to pet talk, I love your Cookie too! You have to post more of her photos in Cat General where you can see all of the other cute tux cats and we can all admire Cookie too!

It's funny, because the name my family had for this pose also had an Asian reference - my dad had this stupid 45 record (oops, I just dated myself) of a jazz band playing a song called "Squatty Roo", kind of a Japanese-sounding song. So my sisters and I used to call this the "Squatty-Roo" when our kitties were in that position.
The legend says that Mohammed adored cats. When one of them was sleeping on his sleeve and he had to go out, Mohammed supposedly cut off the sleeve so as not to disturb his pet.

SQUATTY-ROO.....now THAT's funny....poor Ritzy, if she only knew how we were making fun of her.

As to her weight, she's about 13lbs, and according to vet, well and healthy and within normal kitty parameters. I'm guessing if you took a picture of me in a "squatty roo" position it wouldn't be too flattering either (which is why I avoid cameras whenever possible - after age 40, almost every picture looks kind of "squatty roo")

Amen to that! When they started the thread of "what do you look like", my first instinct was to say YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! I still have to rummage around in some old shoebox somewhere and come up with a picture of me from way back, when I was still reasonably attractive Good thing I already got my man because I'd have a hard time of it now!

This thread is too funny. Sunny sits like this quite often. Here's a picture of him.

Here's another pic of Sunny. I think he looks funny in this pic.

When Nikki, my 3 1/2 month old Cornish Rex kitten sits like this he looks just like a gargoyle! He's almost hairless and skinny and with those big ears and his elbows looks like wings. I hope I can get a picture!

that has been officially dubbed in Pettalk as the "full doily cat" position ...and a true "meatloaf" has a smoother, more rounded texture to the overall presentation (no kitty elbows sticking out like turkey wings )

I also call the "meatloaf" pose the "parade float" kitty because you can't see the "wheels" or "feet"

I never noticed Peanut sit like this before, but now that the "turkey" position has been brought to my attention, look who is doing her own rendition of the pose.

I'll also add this one so everyone can clearly see the difference between "parade float/meatloaf" and "turkey."

Cats are so funny. What we do without them in our lives.

Yeah, all except that wonderful, bright sunny smile she has on her face in the second picture. Evidently she wasn't at all please that I interrupted her nap just for another stupid picture.

(Thanks. She really is a sweetie.)
