    Introducing Phinehas's grandson: Malachi

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've actively posted on PT, but I'm hoping to get back into it.
For a little bit of background to anyone who doesn't remember, I've loved orientals for a long long time. It all started here with the journey of Phinehas, my Oriental Shorthair kitty: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...iental+express

This is his official introduction to the group: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...iental+express

I have added a new member to my little family and, as it turns out, this new member is Phinehas's grandson!

    Here is Malachi (pronounced mal-uh-kie):

Malachi is 6 months old and is the son of Jeeves who is the son of my Kitty Phinehas.
Malachi is an ebony ticked tabby oriental shorthair. I had actually gone to visit his breeder and see Jeeves and Ouzo, who are kitties that were retired and available. I really fell in love with Jeeves, but he was so close in purrsonality to Phinehas that there may have been a conflict since they are both alpha cats. Linda suggested I take Malachi as he would probably be a better fit for my family and Phinehas of course comes first. Malachi is a very scared kitty, so I'm hoping he will come out of his shell soon. The introduction of Phinehas to Malachi is going pretty well, but we still have some work to do.

This is what we've been doing with Malachi in hopes of getting him used to us. Linda said we should just hold him and pet him and get him used to our voices.

Poor little thing was really scared and just laid there at first. If you look closely, he's sticking his little tongue out:

Phinehas (aka "grandpa") is looking at baby Malachi:

Malachi after he's loosened up a bit. He even started making biscuits!

Phinehas will make a good grandpa!

That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed!

Congrats Karen & Hubby!!! Malachi sure is an adorable addition.

I was lucky enough to be with her and her hubby when they went to look at the cats up for adoption from Phinehas's breeder. We also got to see some 2 week old and 3 week old kittens. I fell in love with a chocolate 6 month old kitten who is Malachi's brother but the breeder was keeping him. Jeeves really is Phinehas's twin both in looks and personality. I think that Malachi was the purrfect choice for the new addition. I know he's going to fit in nicely. I don't live very far from him so I'll be able to go visit him and to take care of him and his brother when they go out of town.

Gosh, they're beautiful, young and young at heart both!
They sure have that "I'm to be adored" look down pat, too. Around here, I get the "I'm to be fed now!" and "No, the bed is mine tonight, leave the pillow" looks.

They are both amazing, congratulations on two beautiul babies.

Oh, aren't they beautiful!!!!! And such loving kitties, too!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Thanks everyone! Malachi seems to be adjusting. I had him out a bit yesterday since I had cleaned the bathroom I was keeping him in. While the floor was drying, I held Malachi on my lap and he did well. He trembled a bit, but as long as he could see Phinehas, he was ok. He even started to fall asleep! I think I'll be able to let him out of the bathroom soon since he's not always running/hiding when I open the door. This morning he was waiting for me and crying, so that's good improvement. Now we just need to get over the hurdle of Phinehas's health issue, and I'll feel so much better about leaving Malachi out in the main room.
