Thank You for your loving concern

I agree about the size thing. If the dog-owner is willing to pay a larger deposit that should also be a factor. But I can't change her mind, so I really am running out of options.
I do appreciate so many of you being so supportive....Thanks again...

I'm also wondering.. Tomorrow is the 'deadline' right? I always think of this baby... Not sure what the final outcome is. He's always in my prayers....

    No Home for Orin Yet.!!!

I've had a few inquiries but no one has gotten back to me...So time is short...I can maybe stretch the time frame to Tues. at the latest. I wish some one knew of a lonely senior citizen out there that needed lots of love...Cuz this is the guy...He's got his face on my leg as I type this with one hand...He gives me paw if I take my hand away from his face to long... What a sweet guy this is.!!!

    Desperate ideas...

    Robyn ~

Before you consider putting Dear Ole' Man Orin to sleep...

Load him up in the car and take a drive out in the Country and Visit some FARMS.

Pick some nice ones - maybe with SkinKids out front... Drive in and introduce yourself and Orin.
Explain your problem and ask them for one of two favors ~
    * A. Ask if they'll Adopt Orin and give him a Good Home -or-
    * B. Allow him to stay/live in a barn for a few days
... Just long enough for you to make permanent arrangements for him.

You should probably offer to supply his food if it will only be a temporary stay.

Might take several Farm Visits to find a willing one ~
And Orin just might NOT like *ruffin it* in a drafty ole Barn...

But it would sure beat the alternative ~
An early trip to the Rainbow Bridge .

Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures...
Door-to-Door may not be your cup of tea - but it might save your FurKid...

I like Phred's idea, but if you don't know any farm areas ... Call a local church or two - they may know a senior citizen who needs a friend named Orin! I wish nursing homes all had a dog or cat for the residents to befriend ... If Orin wasn't on the whole other side of the country, I have friends I might persuade, but they wouldn't have the money to fly him from there to here, and even Mugsy is closer geographically than we are ...

Hang in there Orin ... and Robyn ... don't give up!

    Thanks Phred..!!!

Those are good ideas and would work as a last resort, but we don't have many farms here and out-buildings in the desert can get VERY HOT here.!!! At Orrie's age, I'm afraid to create too much trauma for him. Also, I'm not sure that he could adjust to a life that is very different to the one he has lived until now...Thanks so much for careing about my old buddy..!!!

    Re: Orin

So many of U have offered money, and I do appreciate the generousity, but right now, money is not the problem....It's more about maintaining a comfortable quality of life for Orin that is comfortable for him. Adjusting at his age will be difficult, I know that. But wearhousing him would cause more harm than good at this point.

Is there no one, no one at all to take that sweet old boy Orin?

I do hope he finds a home soon. It is Saturday in Calgary and I had to get up and see if Orin has found a home.

There just has to be some young bucks around there that would be willing to give him a good home and care for him.

Please God find a home for Orin before its too late! He deserves to live out his life and not be cut short!!

    Had another idea!

Do you have "Foster homes" where you live? I know someone for a foster home would take great care of Orin!

We have foster homes here and they are advertised in the paper.
The dog is placed in a "foster home" and everything is paid for..the food, vet visits, toys.

Don't know if that would maybe be hard on Orin since he is such an old pup but wouldn't hurt to give it a try!

What about calling churches, Senior centers, etc, to see if they know someone. Many older folks don't want to get a pet for fear of outliving it, but a "senior boy" like Orin would be perfect!

    Mr. Orin

Hi there. MY name is Chrissay and I run SOAR *Shepherds and Others Animal Rescue* I am located in San Bernardino. About an hour north of Palm Springs. I heard about Orin from a friend who saw his post on Petfinder, and then I was directed here. If you could get Orin transported to us we currently have room to take him in. All dogs stay in foster homes until they are adopted. If he came up here he'd be staying with me. Please e-mail me as soon as you can, because as I heard he doesn't have much time!!!! Thank you and best of luck.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! What wonderful news!!!! You've probably already done it, but I just emailed John and Robyn! Our prayers have been answered!!! Thank you SO much Chrissy! You're our hero! And it might be asking just too much, but, if you click on the thread just below this one, "2 foster dogs need homes" there is a beautiful doggie named Shortnen, in Los Gatos Calif. in deperate need of home. If your group can't take him in, maybe you know of another group that can? Thanks!
