No, there is no urine test for dogs. One was attempted, but it was never accurate and it fizzled out. Besides, the hormones of a pregnant bitch look exactly like theo hormones on a pseudo-pregnant bitch.

And even an EXPERIENCED vet can accidentally mis-diagnose a piece of poop in the small intestine for a puppy in the uterus. My teacher has been a vet for over 30 years, and he said that it is impossible to tell one "small marble in a tube" from another until they're past the "marble" stage and the "sausage" stage (where you can't feel them at all).

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Thanks, I didnt realise it was so difficult to find out if they're pregnant. I'm so glad I have a boy dog. The dog looks so tiny too. If it isnt a real pregnancy how long will it be before her belly goes down? I know this is a hard time for the owner, but it is fascinating, I honestly never realised how complex and interesting the world of dogs is, I have learned so much reading this forum.

No I haven't taken her to the vet I was going to wait a little so they could tell for sure if she is pregnant when I take her in. Her stomach has actually gotton smaller and is pretty much normal size now.

Well we think she is probably pregnant. We are taking her to the vet in the next few days. We called a different one and they had an ultrasound but there was a specialist that only comes in 1 time a week and it's $250 to get it done. I'm going to try a couple more vets. My mom swears she felt a puppy kick. Not sure if I believe her though one minute I think maggie's pregnant and the next I don't so I don't know. Well off to call a couple of vets. I will take some belly pics and see if you guys think she has grown since the last time.

Well here are some pics taken a few minutes ago I also just discovered that she went into the heat the 2nd of january instead of the 13th. (I had sent an e-mail to my flyball instructer saying I couldn't come because she just went into heat)

Her vulva is also swollen and she has some clear discharge

If she came into heat on January 14, she would most likely have concieved after the 21st. (Counting on my fingers.) That would make her delivery date on or around the 22 to 26th of march. Give or take a few days because you don't know for sure when she actually concieved.

If her vulva didn't return to normal size after her heat and the discharge is minimal, clear and odorless she's probably got a puppy or three in there. In the next week you'll be able to tell more by her appearance! Now would be the time to increase her daily feedings by 1/3, preferably by adding a mid day meal. It's also time to alert your vet and set up the whelping box.

If the discharge is colored or has an odor, she needs to seen by your vet ASAP.

Sorry I missed the change in dates. She's closer than I thought! A good quality puppy food will work just fine.

Hope everything goes smooth as silk!

Thanks! My sister really wants a puppy so if she has pups my sister will be the first to get one. My poor baby wont stay away from me lol. She is always laying beside me lately. She is also sleeping most of the day unless she is eating or using the bathroom. I'm glad my mom is an experienced breeder (she used to breed pekingese) that was before I was born though. I can understand why there would only be a few pups because if she was bred it was only for a few minutes. I never saw a dog though so i'm not sure when it happened. I know my neighbor has beagles that escape from their pen every once in a while.

You really should get her to a vet and do payments if you have to, my grandparents always had bostons and since they are like bully breeds they most likely could need a c section because there heads are too big to come out... I could be wrong but atleast I always was told that... plus its always safe to know how many to prepare for, We just had pups in december and the good thing was we had her checked weekly at the vets and knew around how many pups to expect, so then we knew when she was done delivering and could put the pups back in with her.... good luck and I cant wait to see puppy pics!!!

I am taking her to the vet soon probably in the next 1-4 days and I know that she will probably need a c-section. I will take tons of pics!
