I didnt even have to think of what dog I want! (this would be the point that my brother would roll his eyes at me )
    Breed: Saint Bernard- shorthair
Gender: Perferably female-but males are just as awesome
Age: I really want a younger puppy-ish one, that way I have time to get used to it growing into a 180-200 pounds! Besides, saints HAVE to be trained early.
Place: Humane society or rescue. I was going to buy from a breeder, but I'm just waiting for one to come along.

Thats my dream dog! I'm hopefully going to get it in the spring, that way I have time off from school, and can train him/her better.

Of course, my mom still has to be convinced that a saint wouldn't be a huge big ball of furry mess...

This is how we ended up w/ our female lab, Abby. Mu hubby and I decided to take a drive to the shelter, not sure why, just one of those things you get in your head to do and have to do it KWIM?? We had talked about getting another dog but we had JUST closed on our first home and wanted to wait a bit to allow our first dog time to adjust. well we got to the pound, saw this 5 month old female sitting in a cage and her eyes were so lonely I just wanted to bawl. Her papers said she was too hard to house train and that's why the people took her there. i told my hubby that no one would adopt a dog they thought could not be house trained so we took her then and there! it only took us a week to house train her. She is now almost 3 and has not gone on the house since that first week. The previous owners must have been impatient or did not take much time w/ her. I am so glad we went out there that day and found our little angel who is such a sweet girl! I think something made us want to go to the pound that day even though we had said time and time again we would not get another dog for at least 6 more months. I think our Abby knew we were out here and she called for us to come and get her LOL

I am getting ready to get a new puppy. My family and I are going to get a silky terrier. From a breeder. We have found one and are going to check her out before buying one from her. It will be a girl. Not sure what her name will be. Have to get her and then the name will come to me.

KayAnn, we have this GSD mix at the shelter who reminds me a bit of Simba. She's just the sweetest cutest thing.

OMG Alyson..I think I'm gonna cry!!! That face!! Ah, geez, I am getting the itchies for another dog!! My K9-maternal instincts are just about to overflow! I keep saying another male puppy, NSDTR, Lab, GR anything with the word retreiver in it, only cause I know the breed but I LOVE Border Collies and my mom loves GSD's, and I love Newfies and Great Pyrenees, yet I see THAT face above my post and just MELT and then want to haul my butt to the pound and rescue them ALL! At this point in my life right now, I can't adopt, but I will never live without a dog, I swear, so I think I'll wait fir the "look" and let a sweetheart adopt me, regardless of breed or gender! (I'm an easy mark)
Oh.. and it's name would be
LOGAN to honor my 1st PetTalk friend. And the dog should be as wonderful, sweet, compassionate as the human one!! xoxoxox

Aly that dog is SO adorable! I just wanna kiss that face big time! And Shannon, that adoption story is amazing. It truly is fate, without a doubt. It is so true that the perfect dog picks out it's owner, instead of the other way around. I love nice adoption stories like that one

And KarenI, that's so sweet of you I actually really love that name too, in fact, my hubby and I were going to name our first boy Logan (no offence, Logan, my name can go either way also). I had thought about naming my next dog Logan, but I think I want to reserve that name for a human baby Logan, you have a great name to go with your sweet personality

    Breed: Rottweiler of course
Where would it come from: probably a breed rescue
Girl or Boy: probably a boy, depends on how it would get along with the dogs we have now
Name: depends on the carachter of the animal
Age: a puppy; any age under 1 year

I would buy a male beagle, tricolor, from a breeder, and it would be 1 or 2 months old. He's name would be Cheriff (actually I'm getting him

Puppies are a bundle of joy, dogs, are life's happiness.

I would love a Leonberger! Or a Bernese Mountain Dog!! Or a Great Pyrenees! Can you tell I like big hairy dogs!!?!! More than likely however, when Duncan is gone (Knock on Wood!), I'll adopt another dog from the pound to save a life! I have nothing against people who buy dogs from breeders but I personally wouldn't because I would feel so guilty for all those animals w/o homes.
