Both my dogs were from friends. My next dog, which will be when I'm living on my own and out of college, will be from a shelter.

I got Myles from the shelter and I got the two pups from the breeder.
Michelle
Bella came from a breeder.
Ripley came from a shelter.
Trevor was originally bought from a pet shop by my son's friend for his grandmother whose cat had just died. His grandmother wasn't ready for another cat so my son took him and brought him home to me. Trevor became my first cat, sort of accidentally.
Andy came from a yard sale. My mom's friend was having a yard sale and a neighbor walked over with Andy in her arms and asked if anyone wanted him. My mom said "my daughter will want him" and she came home and called me on the phone to come and get him.![]()
I got my rabbit Kishii from the pet shop, she was the last girl there living in such a small little area and she was a bigger bunny so no body wanted her cause she wasn't a little baby, so she caught my heart and now I love her so much and we have such a great bond!
When I was 4 we got my siamese cat Bobo from a Breeder.
And my big Queen hybred fish I got from the pet store and another one of my fishes I got from my friend's pond!
I would get from shelters but my parents are kind of against it unfortunately![]()

Unfortunately they are against it because they are scared about what they might get from a shelter, that an animal might be too old or have a bad problem or be sick or aggressive. That's the way they feel , I don't like it either, I think buying from shelters is great, but they feel like the would be getting a pet that is going to cause problems and will cost alot of money. They aren't as much pet people as me and my sister are. But when I don't live with my parents anymore I am certainly going to adopt animals from the shelter

And also, they just don't have the money to pay for anything serious that can go on with the shelter animal. They just believe that because of the fact that no one really does know their past, something could happen.Originally Posted by buttercup132
Personally, I am all for shelters and stick up for them and have told people of the things going on and why I prefer shelters over pet-stores. But, I think that it is one's own personal decision. I have told my mother countless times that the dog I buy in the future is going to be from a shelter, and she has nothing against it and tells me to go for it.

I voted breeder, because that is where my two beagles are from, but my other dog is from a shelter.
The first two dogs when i was born i have no idea where Dad got them from. The fishies came from Meijer and Ocean Odyssey. The newts came from OO. Two of my budgies came from Meijer, one from Walmart. My Rat Terrier came from a breeder (UKC, but she was only $35.) King (GSD) was rescued from a neighbor's. I rescued Trio (orange DSH) from a farm (a day before being sent to the pound.) Jasper (black DSH) was from a rescue. Koli was rescued from the pound. Many other dogs in the past that i saved directly from the streets. Either found their owners or good homes. Almost saved a stray kitty too, but he? disappeared the night before his vet apt.Originally Posted by KittyGurl

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.
