I'm so sorry you lost your cottage. While it wasn't your home I can understand why the lost has upset you. It was your last connection with your Grams. If you have home insurance it should cover the home and anything lost in it.

To try and answer your question:

There is a saying: "Every could has a silver lining."

It WAS thoughtless, in a way, for someone to put that pic in the paper.

But - the "silver lining" might be that more people, such as your friends and neighbours, might see it and come forward to offer help.

Maybe not - but you never know.

    You're on PEI, right?

    GORGEOUS place...and good people.

I am guessing - but let me know if your dad is getting lots of phone calls or what.

I am glad you feel better...I hope you can get some sleep soon. HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS!

I am so sorry that this had to happen to you and your family. But just think of all of the happy memories...it will get easier that way. May God be with you- and He will help ease the pain.

The pictures shows up on the newspaper's website, Audrey, but when you click on it, the story is something different about breakfast in schools. Just the picture, itself, is horrifying. I'm so sorry.

Logan: I can't find the story online, but basically all is said was there was a fire at a cottage, used to be owned by the late premier of PEI (my grandfather) current owners unavailable for interview (I wonder) They talked a little about my grandfather...I guess cause they couldn't get a hold of us...

And yes, my dad has been getting calls from friends of his...but he still didn't want it in the paper. The cottage was on private property anyway. Someone from the estate took the picture and sent it into the paper.

This was before...It wasn't exactly beautiful, but it was cozy. (plus it's like 100 years old or something)

On the way out, the morning we heard about it...there were 2 dogs standing in the highway. They looked scared or confused or both. The car ahead of us stopped, they dogs didn't move, she she kept going. She actually HIT one of the dogs. Thankfully she wasn't going fast. It was really horrible timing and I couldn't help them. I got out and called them off the road atleast. The came over to me, a little confused still, but seemed like very friendly dogs. As I was leaving, I saw a lady calling them...I guess she was going to help them. I feel horrible I didn't help them, but we just couldn't.

Your poor cottage...it's beyond heartbreaking for you to look at that, I'm sure.

I wonder if any mementos survived, some little souvenirs you can collect.

I hope some of the calls your dad got were offers of help.

I wonder, since your grandad was a Premier of PEI, if the gov't might help?

It is designated a Heritage or Historic site or anything? Could it be?

    Maybe check with your MLA.

ps glad the dogs were ok. The lady who was calling them might have been their owner. You look after you right now.

Thats so sad. Those pictures are just heart wrenching. I know how you'd feel espcially if it was your place to get away and to have grown up with going there.

One thing did. A bell was made in honor of my grandfather...Not too sure for what reason, but it was kinda important. It is very charred, but it lived.

The calls weren't to offer help, just appologies.
I doubt the gov't will offer anything. He was premier back in the 50's or 60's...I never got to meet him, but I really wish I had. It's not a historic site

Thanks for all your comments. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to listen to my problems when I'm so down. Now I know why PT is the first place I think of when something goes wrong.

That is so sad, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost such a special place. It was a very cute cottage. It is nice that at least something survived, and that you have some wonderful memories there.
