Lorraine, you did a wonderful thing and I'd just tell your friend what Karen said. Now please make the orange male cat also go poof.

I agree after reading all the posts that you did the right thing. Really what is the difference in you picking her up, and taking her home to re-home her with somebody who cares and the animal welfare doing it? It's just that animal welfare do it 'officially'. He doesn't sound like he cares about these cats and if they're out all day and night and not fed very well then I see no reason why somebody else can't have her.
I think you should do the hypothetical thing and ask him the next time you see him, perhaps say a friend saw the cat and thought she was lovely and said they'd love a cat like that and see what his reaction is...if he's not bothered and is disinterested then I think that's a green light to go ahead.
Then tell your friend you've cleared it with him, and then she'll have a home.
If not try and find somebody else who'll take her she's lovely.
What do you think is more important to this guy, the cat or the drugs?
I say "kitty go poof!".![]()
You did the best thing for this little girl. Do you think HE would give her scritches and treats and let her head-bumpie him?

Poofing is good.AND, I would reconsider the friend that said to ask him first. I don't mean reconsider as in get rid of her, BUT, she might not share the same views you do on responsible cat ownership if she thinks you should ask this guy first.....find someone else to adopt the kitty, and spare the story on how you acquired him/her. Problem solved!

Lorraine, you did the right thing!!! It's wonderful what you did!! Please keep us updated!

You did a very good thing, in my opinion. I do remember a thread where someone felt that another kitty should not have gone *poof* - but, this pretty girl is a stray. The man may have fed her a few times but he is not a pet owner and does not seem to care at all for animals. So, I truly feel that you did the right thing, a very good thing.
I hope you find a happy and caring home for her. I am sorry that your friend changed her mind - too bad she has not talked to this drinking doper who does not care for animals or she would likely change her mind.
((((HUGS)))) to you Lorraine![]()
OMG! She looks so much like my baby Dottie! And baby Dottie is such a little love bug, too. You DEFINITELY did the right thing, but ANNIE says you need to find her another home, FAST, so she doesn't steal Willy's heart!
I like what Karen said. Tell your friend that the guy said it's OK as long as she is well taken care of.
Now, work on making the little orange male go "POOF" as well!![]()

Oh, Lorraine, you did a wonderful thing!! I would've done the same thing. Good job! I am happy that the kitty is safe with you and off the streets...any thought of doing a magic trick on the little boy?
I would just tell her (like Karen said) that the guy said it was fine...he doesn't care about the kit, if he did, he would've taken care of her before!

I've had experience with high people and drunks, they're idiots! You did a great thing and to me he isn't suited to own this beautiful kitty.
