The one eyed man in the kingdom of the blind wasn't king, he was stoned for seeing light.
And similar, if not quite the same...Sarah (can't spell her name right) Palin did not have to give up being governor of Alaska when she ran for veep. Instead she quit a while later.
But I had the same reaction. I would have been really annoyed if I was his opponent and he had become veep. I am sure the governor of Wisconsin would have gotten to name his replacment to the House instead of it going to his opponent.

Ooh, that's a good one too. Thanks, Candace!

Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

With the danger of being called a racist, I must say I find this appalling! The board in a housing estate North of Copenhagen have voted on whether they should have a Christmas tree on the grounds, like they've had for about 40 years, but since the majority on the board are Muslims, they voted no. Even though they used quite a sum of money to finance their Eid celebration.
I really think we have gone too far to satisfy the Muslins' way of living. Some kinder gardens won't serve pork for the children, either and one verse in a hymnal has been taken out, also.
When people come to live in a foreign country, they should at least try to adapt to the ways of the country they choose to live in.
I wonder how Americans would react?
You can read more here and it seems it will/are being sorted out:

"I don't know which weapons will be used in the third World war, but in the fourth, it will be sticks and stones" --- Albert Einstein.
Unfortunately, a lot of Americans act the same way. Some find the much used greeting, etc of "Merry Christmas", to be offensive. Their way of thinking is that not everybody is Christian and celebrates this holiday., so this term should no longer be used. It has gotten so bad, that most businesses have the operator answer the phones with "Happy Holiday", for fear of being what some people might say "offensive" to the person on the other end of the line. Many town halls, government buildings, etc, no longer put up a "Christmas" tree or Nativity scene, because it isn't "religiously correct", and how dare we forget "separation of church and state"!
All of this crap just makes my blood boil. People have chosen to take a beautiful and peaceful time of year with lovely traditions, and turn it into a political/religious battlefield. How sad for everyone!

My thoughts exactly. It is really pathetic. Everyone talks all this good talk about this whole "Peace on Earth" feelings and then get mad when you don't properly address their holiday. It makes no sense! If someone told me to have a nice Eid or whatever I would thank them, you don't even need to say you don't celebrate that holiday. They wished you a happy holiday either way, I don't get any of it.
It is a democracy, so the majority usually rules. As long as they would not prohibit me from putting up a Christmas tree at my house, I'd have no problem with it. But it would be better to let everyone celebrate their traditions, of course.
