A work meeting in the big room
    Roll in your own chairs
    Break for lunch, return
    Guess whose chair is mine
The one with the cat & dog hairs
    Of course

    This pillow is mine
I climb up and rest my head
    On her flowing hair

    ------------------------------------------------

    The foot of the bed
Is my little spot to sleep
    And watch over her

    -------------------------------------------------

    With voice loud and clear
I make my point known to her
    My bowl is empty
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

    GEOGRAPHY??

    No reindeers, no snow
    No freezing temperatures
    This can't be Lapland!

    No skis and no sleds
Only two warm thighs, a space
    for a real fast nap

    A place to climb on
A place to sleep the deepest,
    THAT is my LAP land!!

just when you need to leave.

I loved this poem! I printed out a copy for myself and gave a copy to a friend. Then, I emailed a copy to my sister, who printed it out and in turn emailed it some cat-loving friends. Thanks for sharing!

    Max, attracted to
a shiny piece of tin foil
    Like all human males.

    Tin foil is shiny,
    to capture a cat's fancy?
    Shake a bag of treats!

    ----------------------------------

    Warm cat, a cold night?
    I sleep soundly listening
    To my Edward snore.

    A scary night!

    I cannot run fast
    the monster is chasing me
    Where can I run to?

    I dream of danger
    No chance! I cannot escape!
    -Cat sleeps on my legs!

Not original; received via e-mail today

    The food in my bowl
Is old, and more to the point
    Contains no tuna.

    ----

    So you want to play.
Will I claw at dancing string?
    Your ankle's closer.

    ----

    There's no dignity
In being sick - which is why
    I don't tell you where.

    ----

    Seeking solitude
I am locked in the closet.
    For once I need you.

    ----

    Tiny can, dumped in
    Plastic bowl. Presentation,
    One star; service: none.

    ----

    Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards
    This pillow's taken.

    ----

    Your mouth is moving;
    Up and down, emitting noise.
    I've lost interest.

    ----

    The dog wags his tail,
    Seeking approval. See mine?
    Different message.

    ----

    My brain: walnut-sized.
    Yours: largest among primates.
    Yet, who leaves for work?

    ----

    Most problems can be
    Ignored. The more difficult
    Ones can be slept through.

    ----

    My affection is conditional.
    Don't stand up,
    It's your lap I love.

    ----

    Cats can't steal the breath
Of children. But if my tail's
    Pulled again, I'll learn.

    ----

    I don't mind being
Teased, any more than you mind
    A skin graft or two.

    ----

    So you call this thing
    Your "cat carrier." I call
    These my "blades of death."

    ----

    Toy mice, dancing yarn
    Meowing sounds. I'm convinced
    You're an idiot.
