I am sure the scan just confirmed what he thinks is going on...and he wants you to know.

You know...there's a few days when the office is shutting down here. I'll have to check your surgery date again.

I'll fly into Abbotsford, be a bag lady at the airport, and hitchhike to your place and take you out for lattes!

The first thing my D-In-Law Jenny asked me this morning was "so today Slick is going in to get results?". When I said you were waiting for a call (this was at 4:30 this morning East Coast time) she said, puzzled like, "Well they usually ask me to come in person to decide what's next and I've been cancer free for ages!!" That's a good sign Slick.

    Just spoke to the surgeon

I decided to put this in colour because it's time to celebrate...well...kind of....

    Quote:
"There are multiple small pulmonary nodules present within both lungs. A 9.0 mm nodule is present with the left upper lobe, a 10.0 mm nodule is present within the right lower lobe and a 7.00 mm nodule is present within the right middle lobe."

These nodules are in addition to the one that was biopsied. The Dr. reassured me that the nodules that are referred to are nothing to be worried about at this point but will be monitored very carefully over the next few years. He's almost positive they are benign because they didn't pick up any dye. My lymph nodes are clear and no other cancer is present. So the surgery is on and my right upper lobe will be removed along with my lymph nodes.

He faxed me about 4 pages of "stuff" and believe me, I don't have a clue what half of it means but I have resources here who can help me with that. I will go over this material and have my questions ready when I meet with him on Thursday morning. Oh yes, the notes also say that I have a Hiatal Hernia. Well, I know what that is and that doesn't worry me in the least.

He ended off the conversation with "Don't worry. You're not going to die from this, OK?"

Much relieved, I hung up the phone and immediately decided to have a Lemon Drop tonight. Who wants to join me??

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Slick - that is terrific news! Is bartender Richard pouring those lemon drops?

I know it will be hard to digest but do try to read all the stuff. Pay attention to the lymph node stuff - I suffer from lymphedema after they took 9 nodes from me during my breast cancer surgery. The scar tissue that forms can sometimes cause blockage in the lymph system, which leads to swelling - you don't want to get it and they can't predict who will get it, but when they touch the lymph nodes, it is a possibility. Ask your surgeon before your surgery to explain it to you and precautions to take after your surgery.

That all said - let's party!
