The goats were very sweet, and, the photos turned out well. I love watching them feed and work with the sea lions, too...We were able to catch their feeding that morning, it was pretty cool. There used to be this old, BIG male there that we all knew as "Fat Albert," but, it's been awhile since I have heard his name, so, he must have passed away. The male now weighs about 400+ pounds. They're so cute on land and beautiful in the water!

Kari, I love Riverbanks Zoo. Your pictures are terrific! Did you happen to go into the area where the Lorikeets are? I think that was my absolute favorite thing when we were down there with the kids and my parents a couple of years ago. Those birds fascinate me!

What beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing your lovely day with us!
There are so many that I like but a few really stood out. Like the first pic of the bear, the sun shining, the water trickling in the background it just all fits together. The first one of the sea lion, the way the sun is shining on him is beautiful! The first pic of the Giraffes, she's so close to the camera (or so it seems). And I love the lion fish (is that what they are?). I have an absolute terrible time trying to get pics of fish through glass.

The giraffes were so much fun! We got to feed them. The platform is up high of course, because they're all at least thirteen feet tall. They ate pelleted food and carrot bits right out of our hands, it was nice. They didn't like to be petted, though, so, I just admired and took pictures. They were really that close to us, I had to get out of the way several times, and, had to zoom back in to get them in!

I know it! They were complete hams, especially the one standing up. I fed them pelleted food, too, and, they let me scratch their chins and backs, it was fun.

Thank you so much! The camera's actually not the greatest, but, it's good for photos like the ones I got at the zoo. I hope to get a new one for Christmas. The one I use is my mom's and it's a Fuji Finepix. I don't know cameras that well, as far as what's great, but, I know it wasn't that expensive. Anyway, the goats were cracking me up, too...I spent about twenty minutes with those two.

Thanks, Logan. I love that zoo, I've been going since I was a toddler. I didn't go feed the Lorikeets this time, but, I wanted to. It was just too crowded. I have fed them before, and, want to go to the zoo one day just to see if I can get some photos of them. They are really beautiful!

And, thanks everyone, for checking my photos out! I don't know why I put so much into this thread, centering all the pictures and everything, but, I'm glad you all took a moment to check them out.

I'm not sure if I agree that poeple should be feeding the animals in the zoo, but that must of been really cool. They are such neat animals.

Yeah, they have specially created pelleted food for the giraffes, as well as carrots. The lorikeets have a special nectar, and, the fish and goats also have pelleted food. Goats eat everything, it seems, so, I don't think they worry about how much they're eating. And, the food is dispensed from gumball machine type things, and, I don't think even if they ate the whole thing it would be too bad for them. The giraffes have specific feeding times and someone is there handing out the food and supervising. The fish have the same type of gumball machine things, and, you just toss the food into the water. The lorikeets are supervised and are so brave, they come and sit all over you. It's pretty cool.
