So - yes the dali is my favorite breed!
With my experience with dals I don't quite believe that's their traits. Loui, a foster from awhile back, was THE worst shedder! He did NOT like everyone and was very caucious around strangers!

    Border Collie's

    * Their intense work ethics
    * Extremly loyal
    * Not in your face, have to talk to anyone kind of dogs (One of my favourite things about them)
    *Intelligence
    * Agile, Athletic, awsome sporting dogs
    * Herding instinct if it is still there
    * The variety, coat, colour etc

I could go on forever .

    Cairn Terriers:

Friendly, Happy Personalities: Loving people and life is their motto for sure.

Adaptability: They're amazing in this regard. They adapt so readily to whatever the situation is.

Cute/Easy Low Maintenance Coat: Nothing cuter then a scruffy appearance and that wire coat is low shedding and easy to care for.

Playful: They stay playful and puppylike all their lives.

    Smooth Collies:

Intelligent/Easy to Train: Just amazing to me how quickly they learn things and how willing they are to follow commands.

Balanced Energy level: One thing that drew me to them vs some of the other herding breeds, was that they have a calmer more laid back personality. They don't need as extensive exercise as say a Border Collie or Aussie to be well behaved and fit into the family.

Devoted Bond to you and home: Although they can be friendly with other people, this is a breed that isn't going to sell you out for the first person with a cookie. You also aren't going to have to spend a lot of time worrying about them running away from home either.

Protective: Although their protection is more passive oriented through barking, with the decibal level of it, you and your valuables are most assuredly safe. Nobody's getting in your backyard unannounced ever again.

    Par...

    Siberian Huskies

*Wolf-like appearance...I love wolves so it's natural I'm attracted to dogs that most resemble them
*Variety of coat colors and patterns
*Intense eyes...blue, brown, amber, bi-eyed, parti-eyed, etc. all are very beautiful (though blue are my favorite!)
*Good size, looks of a big dog but they aren't really that large (normally 40-60 lbs)
*Plush, thick coat. Though they shed badly, their coat doesn't really matt up, it stays very clean, no doggy odor, and it's so nice and soft to run your fingers though

*I'm not sure what to say attracts me personality wise because some books say huskies love everyone and some say they are reserved with strangers. My husky, Nebo, is usually reserved with strangers...it takes time to earn his affection. Either way they aren't usually a boisterous in-your-face kind of dog, at least the ones I've met.

    *Very intelligent
*Usually quiet, when they do make noises most likely it's a howl. The husky "woooooo" is the cutest noise ever to me! Nebo doesn't do it much, but when he does...heart melting.
*Athletic, bred for endurance...makes them great hiking partners
*They tend to eat less than other dogs their size, makes dog food last longer
    *Playful
*Funny, goofy...at least my Nebo is always doing things that makes me laugh

I'll probably be back adding more to this later

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHA DALS I think Are the number one most sheding breed, shows how much research YOU did!
    DALMATIANS
-You can tell where they've been!
    -They are fun loving
    -they need their owners (needy)
    -their coat patterns,
    -their drop ears
-the fact that they are sometimes odd-eyed
    -their smooth velvety fur
-they are intelegent, but have a mind of their own, they won't do something If they really don't feel like it.
-their very colorful history and all the tales and stories associated with their development
-the fact that they tend to be great with horses
-they can be trained a strong recal if you start durring the puppy imprinting stage
-they can keep up with your crosscountry bike or horse trip
-they almost always have complete nose pigmentation because incomplete pigmentation is a disqualification.
-they love you without acting brainwashed or stupid

oh and yes, the AKC standard says they should be outgoing with strangers so that means most all that are conformation bred are. My Layla was a rescue probably from a breeder who could care less about the standard so she was very afraid of strangers. You get the two opposites in the money breedings and conformation breedings.

I worked at boarding kennel-as far as that situation goes, Dalmatians are either the best or the worst with strangers. They can be pretty food aggressive...dog aggressive...there were quite a few that came in that were fear-biters, or just had a tendency to snap at you. But then there were the handful that were as sweet as can be. Tons of health problems-deafness and thyroid disorders. I don't see myself getting one anytime soon.

Perhaps that's because yours is still a pup. When I had my Dal I brushed her daily and used a shedding blade on her, she still shed like crazy!

Yep. I guess the ones I have met were just badly treated.
