Not to be contraversal but where are all the countries we helped in the sunomy (sp) and the UN we do pay the dues for that. Sorry it is my pet peeve we help EVERYONE but when we need it the rest of the world ignores us.
I think I need a DLC please. Is Laura going to be able to get home now that shes safe on here boat?

I guess I heard that 12 countries have offered help , just haven't heard which ones.

*breezes through, grabs whatever jug is left over from yesterday* GLUG GLUB *erp* excuse me Still no home computer so withdrawls are creeping up BIG TIME Busy day which is strange because most of the city is prepping for a long weekend out of town. I think I'll kick that jukebox into overdrive and play some cajun music and get a care package going south. Anyone have that link for Humane Society rescue efforts?? I do have time to start some red beans and dirty rice with some andouille sausage. I think I'll set some candles in a few of our windows here at the bar and try to think good thoughts.

    SHRIMP AND ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE GUMBO
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup all purpose flour
    4 celery stalks, coarsely chopped
    2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
    2 green bell peppers, chopped
    2 bay leaves
    2 teaspoons salt
    2 teaspoons dried oregano, crumbled
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
5 8-ounce bottles clam juize (look out Phred!!!)

1 28-ounce can plum tomatoes, drained, chopped
1 pound smoked andouille or kielbasa sausage, halved lengthwise,
    sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 pounds uncooked medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
    Freshly cooked long-grain rice
    2 tomatoes, seeded, diced

cook until mouth waters from the luscious smell

note: I purposely left out nasty okra

    Laurie, here are two links.

Noah's Wish is an organization that specializes in rescuing animals stranded by disasters.

'Morning everybody! I need to find somewhere I can donate a care package to also....gotta be a local church putting something together.....

...but in the meantime, I think I'll have a light breakfast of Danish fruit and yogurt....but somehow I think all the cherries are gone....so I'll have to find another fruit to take their place.

Good morning everyone! Yes, it's a sad situation down south and my prayers and good throughts are being sent. I have a friend who is part of Noah's Wish and she's trying to get me involved too, although it's difficult because you have to be ready to be deployed anytime which is hard when you are working full time.

MMMM, what smells so good....must be what Laurie's cooking. Somehow I feel like dressing up...something like they do for the Marde Gra, although this certainly is not the time for celebration.

Have a good day guys and I'll check in later.

Oh yes, and WHITE RABBITS! May you all have good luck for the month.

Well, I WASN'T going to complain for an entire week but that was before my less than two year old hot water tank stopped working, and I couldn't get my landlady so called the plumbers and had them come on out. While here they discovered the sewer was clogged an backing up into the basement. They insisted on clearing the clog even though I told them I couldn't reach the land lady to check. They said for sanitary reasons, it needed done, so I said ok. Now, I'll need to worry if my landlady will pay the bill or if I'll have to dig it up. Fat chance, I'm so broke it's not funny!!!

Aw, well, I still have a roof over my head, 4 furrys to cuddle, and now HOT WATER!!! All I need is a cherry vanilla coke and some food, and I'll be swell!

Chin up everyone! I'll make you a huge bowl of fruit breakfast - that should get you going for the next few days.

Guess where I'm going tomorrow MORNING!! Down to the harbour to pick up Julie and her husband from the cruise ship. Sussanne will come along - we promised not to talk about Ally being so naughty. ..... Yes, I WILL remember my camera.

A goodnight drink will suit me fine now. Any suggestions?

    Cheers!

    Thanks Randi!
I feel better now that I've eaten.

Plus, I finally got my landlady. She yelled for 20 minutes and told me to never ever call ANYONE without her permission again, unless it's in the middle of the night! But it's all over for now anyway. I was given notice that she would NOT buy another hot water heater EVER for this house. What a sweetie she is!!!

Moff! What a hassle!! Couldn't she just say thank you - and "Sorry for the inconvenience"!!!
