Sighthounds (in general) have necks that are larger than their heads. Which makes it easier for the hound to slip or back out of a regular collar.

It's recommended that sighthounds wear what's called a Martingale collar. The thickness of the collar is used to disperse the pressure to the neck when the hound pulls.

Actually, I'd suggest a martingale for use by any breed.
