Unfornately, some PETA activist do give PETA a bad name in their actions. Just like GreenPeace members can do the same for their organization. I am against animal cruelty but I can only make sure I don't do it myself. If everyone could do that, then things may be better. I understand I can't put my feelings or opinions on anyone else, even in an effort to "scare them" into awareness. Which such gross and inapropriate brochures try to do.
I applaud people who are willing to bring awareness to bad situations such as animal cruelty. However, they must also be aware of what lines not to cross. Handing children brochures containing offensive materials is one of them. Forcing people to take brochures and/or making loud statements is another. Protest should always be peaceful and bring a chance of change/awareness.
Whoever this person was, they were not very ethical and did a poor job of representing their PETA views. They most likely did more damage than good. I just hope your daughter is able to avoid future incidents. Although, this is "sign-up" season at colleges when such "awareness"campaigns are at their worst. Trying to get "new" college students into their fold early. Just have her ignore them or avoid the area. Maybe even see if campus security is available to escort her or the group she is in while on campus. Although the security can't do anything about the campaigning.
