The Dog Park in Michigan is onthe north side of Detroit. If I remember right, we ran into some traffic two years ago, and it two us about 2 hours from toledo (should have been more like 1 :30) From Findlay, it would be about 2 1/2 if traffic is good (and my memory is right)

*phew* that's good. I was afraid it might be 4 or 5 hours away. We can do 2 1/2.

I won't be able to make it. I am pretty certain that I will have to work and it is just too far of a drive for me.

I also will be there in spirit and wishing Kia a happy birthday!

Does this mean the Findlay one is cancelled. What's going on? I would kind of like to know. Need to make plans.

It's close to Lake Orion, MI. I was wrong. According to mapquest, the park is about an hour and a half away from Williamston. I just never go to the park from home since Andy lives closer to it and I stay at his place on the weekends.

The Bark Park is just south of the intersection of W Clarkston Rd. and Joslyn Rd. It's next to Lake Sixteen.

I am not sure what to do about the Michigan trip. None of my dogs except Dazzi are good off leash (and she can't go because she sometimes doesn't like other dogs). How much fun would it be for a dog to be there and have to stay on leash? I am afraid if we took Taggert we would never get him back again. He would be off exploring and never give us another thought.

I don't understand your question, Diana.

The MI Bark Park is an off leash fenced in park.

You just said your dogs are not good off leash. They appear to be great off leash at Findlay.

I think Diana is thinking like me and how I am with Tori. It sounds like a big park and I don't have very good voice control over Tori and would be afraid that she would not behave very well. Is it something like that Diana?

It is a big park, but from what I have witnessed, dogs tend to stick close to their owners. I know Kia does and she does not have very good recall.

I just figure if she gets out of sight, she'll come back eventually.

I don't know that anyone really needs to *worry* about your Dawgs
at the Lake Orion Dog Park ...

No doubt about it - it **IS** *BIGGER* than Findlay ...
with some densly wooded areas ...

But it is also Very Well FENCED,
    with double gates at the entrance/exit points;
and the 2-Leggers at Orion are just as *Friendly* and helpful as
    the ones at Findlay ...

Dawggies that "wander off" can't really *get* very far - and there's
always Help Available to round 'em up - no matter where they try to Hide!

And *Swimmin* is "optional" - with the 2-Legger getting to decide
*IF* Fido goes to the lake - there's a GATE dividing the Dry Land
    area from the Swimmin Hole!

ANY Dawggie that "gets along" at Findlay will Fit Rite In at Lake Orion!!

    Unhappy

Well of course as I figured, I'm scheduled to work both Saturday & Sunday. Guess that means we won't be able to be there for the birthday party again

Have a great time and think of us!

I might be there, I just need to see if I have that day off of work, and get hubby talked into it.

Yay new people! Should we break out name tags?!

Sounds like Sunday is the way to go then. Since it's settled on when the out of staters/towners can make it, I'll send off an email to the locals.

BTW.. I realize there is no pavilion at the Bark Park, however, my parents do own a table top grill and I was milling over the possibilty of having a small "picnic" of sorts at that table where we had the treats last year.

    What do you guys think?

    *BUMP*

I'd like to get a definite headcount of people and pups so I have enough treats for all.

Also, please see my above post.

    Thanks!!

We're passing again this year - Christy and her dogs and baby are still here and it's just too crazy with the comings and goings. Maybe one of these years we'll make it!!!

Have a good time as I am sure you will!
