Hmm I wonder how you would feel if it were your son, I have a son one year older than him, and believe me I don't think I would like him dating a woman almost the same age as myself, and that is not in these awful circumstances, I have a daughter the same age as he was when this happened to him, I cannot imagine it, it is horrific IMO, and I cannot understand anyone giving them their blessing and saying what a cute couple they make, it is beyond me, I am totally gob-smacked.

If he were my son,, I would acknowledge the fact he is now an adult and able to make his own choices,,,,, I would be happy he was lucky enuff to have found love in his life and be adult enuff to be there for him and his family whenever they needed me..... Life is too darned short to be snarky over a past one cannot change..... they truly seem happy,,, live and let live,,,,

That's a sick, demented kind of "love". As pointed out earlier, if the situation were reversed and it was a girl that was the victim, everyone would be losing it. What makes this situation any different? The boy that is now a man had his decision about "love" made for him long before it should have been. He knows nothing else. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Hmm, there ARE people having a problem with older woman/younger man getting married, its everywhere actually. Then again, some people realize that love knows no age.

I DO agree that doing it with people younger than 18 is wrong however.

But he's old enough now to realize he wants to be with this older woman and married to her. If the genders were reversed you'd have the same kind of reaction from people, some are happy, some are sick, etc... There are people who actually only have had ONE partner in their lives and are quite happy with it.

I say congrats to him and her and good luck in the future.

Well you are entitled to your opinions, however I think if it were really your son involved you would feel quite differently.

I can just imagine being with one of my son's friends,good grief we are not even on the same planet IMO.

I don't have such a issue with age difference really, for some it works and works well, it is not what offends me, it is how it all began, so you are saying if my daughter who is 12 years old, fell for a grown man twenty years her senior , then to you that is ok, and if when she has grown up I should then turn around and bless this union,whatever, that women is a sicko, and nothing more than a child molester, how on earth can you condone that?

He may well be an adult now, and that is debatable, just because you reach a certain age in years, does not mean you have the maturity to go along with it, but it is as Val pointed out, he has not had a normal child-hood.

I hope with all my heart he finally wakes up and smells the coffee, and that he does not marry this awful woman, and meets someone his own age who can offer him what real love is, not someone with a sick , demented mind as she has, he has a mother for goodness sake, he does not need another, I can bet my life savings, this will not last.

I am still in total shock how anyone can approve of such a union.. it is like oh well he was molested by her when he was young, but now he is all grown up, let bygones be bygones and they should be together because it is true love,whatever.

Um, I wouldn't consider him 'molested'. He kissed her first and she kissed back. He never said "no". His own mother said it was NOT a case of rape though Mary was convicted of statutory rape.

As far as his age being a factor, I know some people who are that young and are far more mature than my adult aged friends. Since I do not know him or Mary Kay I (and no one else either) cannot judge them on maturity level by reading articles about them.

I can't say how I'd react if my daughter/son would be in a relationship like that. I can only guess that I would not be too approving of the relationship (I would make him/her wait till age 18 to even start thinking about it, i.e. give them time to find out if that's what they really want, and have protection if they DO have sex) but if my son/daughter showed responsibility and maturity I would have a nice long talk with both parties involved.

Excuse me but anyone her age who has sex with a 12 year old is nothing more than a paedophile, of course at 12 years of age he is going to have feelings and respond by kissing her back. I might add this is the type of statement that lawyers use in defending criminals who have sex with children, oh she/he never said NO, it was with consent., and was used in my friends case, which I have mentioned below.luckily in her case the Jury saw through all that mumbo Jumbo.

It is outrageous to me to suggest that there is anything normal about this relationship, she is a manipulative, conniving, unstable person, I mean how irresponsible of her to get pregnant to him, had she not heard of Birth Control, another manipulative move on her part IMO.

To me anyone who thinks their relationship is ok now, is condoning her actions of the past, saying it is ok to have sex with a 12 year old, that in itself leaves a very sour taste in my mouth and leaves the door wide open for all paedophiles.

Tell me what is the difference between her and paedophile? because he was a consenting teenager? give me a break!, and is supposedly in love with her.

This issue is so similar to a situation that I know of personally, my daughter's best friend's sister was 11 years old and was molested by a male friend of her mother's in his 30's, the girl thought she was madly in love with him,and was incensed when the mother found out through emails, what he was really doing with her daughter, she wanted to keep seeing him, this pervert is now doing time in Jail, luckily her mother has managed to persuade her daughter that he is not someone who loves her but a paedophile, so I guess when she grows up if she changes her mind, it would be ok for her to be with him, and bygones can be bygones because it is true love, come on, stop looking through rose coloured glasses and having this romantic illusion, that this is indeed true love, on his part he may well think so, but she is nothing more than a de-ranged, deluded, and sick woman.

So I guess if I were to fall in love with my daughter's friend, a 12 year old boy from school, bed him, have a child to him, serve my jail term, come out and wed him, you would wish me well would you?

I am a fairly open-minded person, but when it comes to saying it is ok to have sex with children, and in a way some of you are saying that, she should be forgiven , she has served her time, he still loves her and she loves him, so let us just wish them the best for their future,that sends a shiver down my spine and makes me feel sick to the stomach, I personally can never condone such a ludicrous relationship.

I have watched her being interviewed, and just felt like bopping this evil witch.if one senses I am hot under the collar in this suject, you would be right I am smokin.

p.s Perhaps because I have a child the same age as he was , when he was molested(and I am sticking to that statement) and a son about the same age as he is now, I can see things differently, I can put both my children in these situations, and I simply think it is morally WRONG.

Obviously your opinion, and you failed to notice I did not say it was ok to have sex with a 12 year old, as a matter of fact I stated that I would NOT approve and have a serious talk with my 12 year old.

she did not molest him, for the sex was consentual, but under dictionary terms she is a pedophile whether it was consentual or not.

again, I never said it was ok to have sex with a 12 year old and actually stated an agreement that I wouldn't approve. if he'd wait till he was 18 and did it with her i would still have a problem with the age difference.

just like i wouldn't approve two 12 year olds going at it (and some do! even when I was in hs!), or a 12 yo girl and 42 yo guy...

I don't approve of it, but obviously they love each other after all they've been through, and that's better than some 'almost the same age' relationships I've seen around.

Frankly, WE (including me) have no place to judge them, we do not know them or his or her maturity level and haven't known them during that time to find out information to better judge them...

Ok I stand corrected on the kissing issue, I did indeed read it wrong sorry about that., I was not just referring to your post, when I said if you think their relationship is ok now, you are kinda condoning her actions of the past, I meant it in general.

I disagree , we do have the right to judge anyone who decides it is ok to have sex with a 12 year old, because it is morally wrong and lawfully wrong, JMO, strong as they are.

Frankly most 12 year old boys are much the same, they are still children.every child has the right to have a childhood, especially in our society., this woman has robbed him of that , no matter how sexually attracted he may have felt towards her, of course his hormones are running wild, she was mature enough to know better and she should have been the one saying NO and sticking to it.

I am only a few years older than this woman, I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind being attracted to a 12 year old boy.

This consentual sex thing really bothers me, it could be said my daughter's friends sister was having consentual sex with this man too, and she was not doing it against her will as such, but good grief, she thought he loved her and she was madly in love, she was totally confused, and he was nothing more than a sexual deviant.

I do understand what you are trying to say,and it is obvious you really don't approve,I just cannot fathom anyone being happy for them is all, it is incredibly sad.
