    About owning PD's....

It technically is illegal. From what I've read, since the outbreak of Monkeypox, they have been illegal. If you had one, you could keep it, but could not trade, sell, buy, etc. Had to be with you until it died. Unfortunely, the lady just couldn't keep her...her husband was in some serious health troubles from PD, so we took her in....ssshhhh!!! Don't report us...

    Do they make good pets?

Some do, some don't. Remember that they are wild animals. They were taken from the wild at birth and "civilized". It is sad to think of actually....But this PD is great!! She LOVES people and gets so excited when we come in to play with her! She even loves Chloe and Skye! Not afraid of any of us and just climbs all over everything! Not all PD's are so comfortable with people. Some PD's take to one person and do not like new people. So it depends on their personality.

    What do PD's eat??

Well, technically, I'm not totally sure. She came with a HUGE bucket of food. Something LIKE rabbit pellets with some pieces of dried vegetables in it. They also eat raw vegetables as treats (my PD girl doesn't though?!?!?) Timothy hay is also a staple. Nothing too complicated.

PD and Wyatt need to meet! lol They could be PD friends! hehe

PD is seriously cute! Has she tried to dig any holes in your house?

I'm a little bothered by the fact that you said you are not sure what she eats.... Can't you get on the web and find out? I'm thinking she would love some fruit or fresh greens..... After all if she were in the wild she would not be eating pellets. I've got rabbits and my exotic vet (yes, rabbits are so different physiologically from cats/dogs they are considered to be an exotic animal....just like PD is) says pellets are a man-made product and not good food for them.......most brands tend to be low in fiber, too high in protein and way too high in calcium. The high calcium can cause bladder stones and low fiber can cause digestive problems. PD may be fine for now on the pellets but I would strongly suggest you do some research and find out for sure if it's ok for pellets to be her only food. You have an unusual pet and she is so special......you want to be sure to keep her happy and healthy! Good luck!

I understand what she eats....it's just that she came with a HUGE container of pellet food, so we have not had to buy any new pellets. She eats timothy hay daily. And we try to give her fresh vegetables (carrots, celery, etc) and fruits (apples, bananas, etc) daily. She has never eaten a fresh anything yet. Just doesn't appeal to her I guess. But we try every day....so she is getting right food...we just haven't "bought" any special brand or anything for her. My mom has the specifics on what she needs to buy when the time comes, but we still have half a container full...so no need yet.

I just want to point out that if this lady could not care for it it should have been taken to a vet, NOT given away. That is so illegal right now and I sure as heck wouldn't be posting on a forum about her. I don't mean to be mean, but you really need to think of the animal. If anyone finds out and reports you they will sieze the animal and euthanize it.

If the lady would have taken her to the vet, then she would have been PTS then too?!?!? What option was there other than taking her? I assumed I could at least tell you guys.....

I just want you to be careful. I'm sure no one here would say anything, but you can't trust anyone and PD is sooooooo cute, I'd hate for anything bad to happen to him.

    Can you take more pics?
