Thank you all. I didn't hear anything from the vet this afternoon, so I should hear from them in the morning. I'll call them tomorrow afternoon if they haven't called before then.
Val- thank you for sharing Diana's story with me. I hope we have another 13+ months with Scampers.

Prayers for Scampers. Hugs for everyone!
Good luck to you! Our Hazel is in kidney failure. She had one cancerous kidney removed, and doing so-so on the remaining one. Please update us when you find out.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers
I am praying for Scampers, and surounding her with white light to heal her.

Prayers and positive thoughts are being sent for Scampers.
More than a year ago, my boss' cat, 17 years old at the time, was diagnosed with kidney failure. He's still a skinny old man, on special food, and is as much a cat as ever, demanding food whenever I am at their house - after all, I often pet-sit for them, so why shouldn't Karen=food?
You and Scampers will be in our prayers.
Prayers wishes and great thoughts for Miss Scampers. I hope she feels better soon*HUGS*
ps- I agree, we dont care if you dont post much, we love you and Scampers just the same![]()
Thank you so much Michelle!![]()
Please be responsible, spay and neuter your pets!
I've been BOO'd!!! Thanks Lori!
Thank you all
**update**
Justin talked to the vet a little while ago. He emailed me this:
The vet just called me. Scampers has kidney failure. It is severe and if we
do nothing she won't live much longer. She said we have a few options:
She can come in for aggressive fluid treatments through IV. This requires
hospitalization. This would have to be a regularly scheduled thing. It could give her anywhere from a few extra weeks to a few
extra months at the most.
Or she can come in regularly for fluid injections. This would be cheaper and is something we could do ourselves, but it wouldn't work as well as the IV.
Or she can be put to sleep.
If we do nothing she will suffer. There is no way to reverse it, we can only slow it down.
We can talk about it tonight. I told the vet I will call her tomorrow morning with what we decide to do.
I love you,
Justin
I don't know what to do. I'm not ready to let her go, but I don't want her to suffer either. Justin and I will talk about it tonight when he gets home. I'll let you all know what we decide.
I have a horrible headache right now and I'm going to go lay down for a little bit.

What a terrible decision to be faced with. Knowing how much you love Scampers, I am sure you will make the decision that you know in your heart is the best one for her.
Sometimes the deepest expression of our love can be to make the decision not to prolong their suffering. It's the final act of love we can show to our furkids, and it hurts us so much

Kidney failure is what claimed our RB Ernie two years ago! We decided no IV or Sub-Q fluids, vet visits, etc. as well. Too traumatic is how we felt.
