Exactly! We went to Lowes and bought him a new electric staple gun and he had so much fun using his new toy he didn't even consider it work. I just sat back and watched and we didn't argue a bit.

CCL - Rocky knows how to strut his stuff around here, LOL!

iloverat - thanks. Rocky and Rumor are 6 1/2 months old now. They are growing like weeds and so much fun.

I may give the sisal rope a try, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks everyone. I will tell Dad you guys were impressed with his handy work, he'll really appreciate it. He's coming up on 83 years old and this project was a big one for him but he did good. I had to keep him on course a little and help him the big stuff but he did it.

That is a GREAT design... did they come up with that themselves?

I agree with those who suggested the sisal rope and I promise, you won't regret it and your kitties will love you for it. You could carpet part and do the sisal rope on some.. Mine LOVE that sisal on theirs and they never go near it without scratching on it... Been a lot less shredding of the furniture since we made mine..

Laura, I searched all over the internet until I found a design I like (found someone selling this on eBay) and then I printed the pictures and info about it and took it to my Dad. He and I then decided what changes we wanted to make to suit my cats. The original one on ebay was only 30" tall but we made this one 42" tall. I didn't want one very tall since they already have a tall tree Dad made for me a few years ago.

Wow! This sure is a very beautiful and sturdy looking cat tree. I remember you showing us the first one that your Dad made for you and it's wonderful too. Please let your Dad know that I think he's a very talented man. I'm so glad that your furkids are already enjoying it.
