It does sound like she is going to be a highly allergic kitty ... since she had an allergic reaction to her incision!!! She sounds very much like me ... I get a huge allergic reaction to the surgical tape and band=aids they put on me in the hospital every time!

I agree, I would give her the smallest dose possible, Kim and watch her like a HAWK! Might even run the idea by your vet first, I would hate to make any mistakes with your precious Abby!

I am glad I waited to give Abby the Benadryl! This afternoon I could see a white sore under her lip like I get with a mouth ulcer. I asked the vet about it. Actually I asked TWO vets. The first I asked gave me the standard "we can't tell unless you bring her in. It could be an allergic reaction, it could be an abcess... blah blah blah."

Then I asked the second vet (one vet for Katrina, one for Murphy) and started with "Can I ask you about my own cat? I've been unemployed for a while now so I really can't bring her in unless you think its absolutely necessary." He listened to me as I described her lip, asked questions and knew exactly what I ws describing! He said it is most likely a boo-boo (he used a more technical term ) from when Pouncer swatted her the other night. She hissed just as he swatted. So the combined pressure of his paw against her tooth caused this boo-boo. He said the swelling should start going down in a few days. If not, then she might need some antibiotics.

The man is an angel! I am in love with this vet! No wonder the rescue people told me to avoid the woman vet and ask for him!

Well, as of this evening, I see no reduction in swelling but it has only been two days since the swatting, one day since I noticed the swelling. I think Pouncer needs a good swatting! thank goodness I have some antibiotics left from when he broke his paw last summer. His antibiotics can go towards her lip... he used that now healed broken paw to slap her!
